  1. Sounds a bit like Stephanie Mills
  2. I can certainly hear "Shake It Up" by The Vibrations in "If Not For Love". Just listened to whole album today and it's very good.

The second series of The Gold on BBC1 is equally as good as the first. Probably the best series I've seen this year (along with Mob Land)
  4. RIP Walter. Another one of greats has sadly left us. So many great songs. Unfortunately, most people only know It's A Love Thing and And The Beat Goes on, but there was so much more. I particularly like this Gary Taylor penned song from 1987. Congrats to those who saw them live. I never got the chance. Their last visit to the UK was about 8 years ago.

I must have been in some of the same rooms as the same time as you Micky. Pity we didn't meet up. It was my first visit and I had a great time. There's something for everyone if you know where to look. I didn't discover the Spanish Hall until 1am on Saturday and wish I'd spent some more time in there as it was buzzing. Patti Austin was excellent. I found it quite emotional to hear her sing some of my favourite songs so close to me and her voice was superb. Here’s some notable records I heard over the weekend. Jalen Ngonda- come around and love me Sonny Til - tears & misery Sheree Brown- It’s a pleasure George Benson - my woman’s good to me Margie Joseph - I can’t move any mountains Maxine Brown - I can’t get along without you Wahoo - don’t take it personal Brian Cultbertson - Another Love Garfield Fleming - Don’t Send Me Away Enchantments- I’m in love with your daughter Broomfield- don’t cover up your feelings Johnny Bristol - love no longer has a hold on me Sunburst Band - Everyday Peabo Bryson - why don’t you make up your mind Dee Dee Sharp Gamble - nobody can take your place Jean Carne- time waits for no-one Renee Geyer - be there in the morning Brown Sugar- the game is over Walter Jackson- touching in the dark The Temptations- aiming at your heart Leon Ware - what’s your name Bobby Womack- home is where the heart is Parliaments - don’t be sore at me Sherrick - just call Don Gardner - cheatin kind Pat Lewis- no-one to love Eddie Parker - I’m gone Gene Toones - what more do you want Jobell - never gonna let you go Silvetti - spring rain
  5. It had a UK 45 release on Epic
  6. Another season ends and bloody Gareth tops the league again, despite a slow start. I finish in a record 2nd place for me. Despite a slow start and a wobble towards the end I'm pleased with the progress I'm finally making after 20+ years of playing 😀. It's all good fun and it was good to see 21 of us take part. Let's start again in two months time. Oh, congratulations Gareth 😀
  7. Big in London too late 90s. When was this released - early 60s?
  8. I used to hear it a lot at local mod / NS / Scooter events in Medway around 1983-5. It makes me cringe now.
  9. Does Butch really play this? Must be based on rarity. I can't unsee the photo and think of Liquid Gold.
  10. Played out at Kent Soul Club on Friday night. It was first time I've heard it out loud and it sounded great.
  11. RIP Mr Ayers. So many great songs. Prolific live performer in the UK. This is him at the Forum, Kentish Town in 2016 He's also been a big influence on Louie Vega and other House acts in more recent times -+
  12. As seen in 2016 at the Fold Festival in Fulham, backed by Chic.
  13. RIP Angie. So many great tracks and albums.
  14. RIP Roberta. Thank you for the lovely music. I'm sat here now and reminding myself of her great songs.
