You can't mention bootleg on ebay as it will be pulled, some boots are collectable and are over 30yrs old so if you're not sure ask on here or get yourself the bootleg guide.

IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOURE NOT HAPPY WITH IT, THEN JUST RETURN IT ANYWAY.....BUT IF IT'S GOT A BELL SOUND STAMP IN THE DEAD WAX IT IS A PROPER 2ND ISSUE MADE BY JUST SUNSHINE IN THE 70T'S, RATHER THAN JUST A RECENT BOOT.

From what Dave & Bri have posted, looks like it should be stamped, trust me they will know

only seen one like yours before, label quality and print was sub-standard.

ORIG TONY IS AS YOU STATE WITH THE COLOURED LOGO ON STYRENE. THE PLAIN LOGO ON VINYL I THINK WAS DONE AFTER PLAYS ON THE NORTHERN SCENE. SO AS FAR AS IT GOES NOT ORIGINAL AND WOULD NOT EXIST IF IT WERE NOT FOR OUR SCENE BUT I THINK THEY ARE LEGIT IN THE SAME WAY AS THE PINK CARSTAIRS ARE LEGIT.

I bought a copy like this not long after hearing it at the Mecca, it was only just starting to get big at that time. Certainly not big enough for there to be a demand enough for it to be booted.

I seem to think it's got a Bell Sound stamp, but would have to dig it out to be certain.

If you have a look in the 'Sharp end of Vinyl' section of this part of the forum, I seem to think it's been discussed before complete with the different variants released.

Looks like a boot. Get the original, is not too expensive considering how good the record is!

A lot of so called second issues/legal represses were made by the label owners for the Northern Soul scene and are special products, not proper USA reissues for the USA public.

There has got to be a distiction made between a proper USA reissues (like Motown Yesteryear) and legal represses made for specialist markets like the Northern Soul scene and the Belgian popcorn scene etc.

These legal represses where never actually issued in any country so can not be called REissues.

Gotcha, I've one on the way. and he accepted my return, in fairness most his stuff isn't re-issues. then again I suppose he knew what he was sellin.

This is total crap half the US re-issues are not fucking legal for starters even when they go in the shops, this has been going on in the US since the late 50's. If a label has done a press for whatever market it's legal.

If the first issue was released in the USA, and the legal repress is NEVER intended to be sold in the USA, it is NOT a reissue.

Its a private legal press for a specialist market. (Example is "Your Love Is Getting Stronger" - Four Voices - on GOLD label Voice) No better than a legal bootleg to me!

"Here She Comes" The Tymes on Parkway came out twice with different release numbers and both had Demos. The second Parkway release is a proper USA REISSUE!

far out, i had no idea someone would try to boot the Bell Sound stamp, that seems like a lot of trouble to go to. Did anyone ever see it on another boot or is it a one off?

Hi All..The subject of this topic is 2nd ISSUE?? Whatever it means it is not what at first you think it means? .. I have noticed this term being applied to almost all early/mid 7ts Counterfeits & Bootlegs! in some cases the record may well be a legitimate reissue or a special reissue run for the UK market.

However to me it's Ebay speak for not being the real deal!. A few years back a 2nd ISSUE meant a Foreign release, many SOUL Purist would refer to UK labels as 2nd ISSUES, & Inferior to the 1st US Record??? However as I say to-day it is a sales pitch to try and justify the status of 7ts reissues made for the NORTHERN SOUL SCENE,??.

I would also state the point that to DJ With any record that does not have a Rare Soul Pedigree, used to be a big no! no! and to play reissues Dub Plates and so on is delusional & Taking the Piss out of the paying public especially if this has become the norm for certain DJs..

Anyways, I always took 2nd Issue to mean a legit later repress on a single, an example could be Ronnie Taylor on Revilot, Nassau is first, 2nd issue is on Revilot. Or if it's the same label, Ramsey Lewis on black Argo which then gets a 2nd press on the brown label. It overlaps in some cases with the term Repress but the term Reissue should usually refer to a much newer press, Bootlegs are their own thing & usually span the whole timeline of things, they can pass themselves off as originals, legit represses or reissues. It's all terribly confusing really. Just try to buy originals as much as possible

I brought this second issue malarkey up on 13 June on Edward Hamilton thread in the Wants section.

I figured it was at best a sloppy use of the term and at worst a simple marketing ploy to either avoid Ebay rules or at it's very worst to enable sellers to sell boots to unsuspecting buyers. If it is the only way [and I don't think it is] of getting around Ebay rules I can't see why the seller can't notify each bidder privately that it is regarded as a boot.

If this particular 45 was bought at set sale then I woulda thought the price woulda reflected the second issue status so the buyer should have known he was getting a boot or re-issue or whatever it is. Highly unlikely to get an original for £5 say when it usually sells at £20-30.

I think most people have the Salvador's, Sister Lee and so on as pressings, even if like me you used to have quite a few TOP OLDIES as originals, I would rather play a vinyl pressing than a CD, Any time, my point is that some are very collectible, having the complete run of the Soul Sounds label is a good challenge as is Out of the Past, Just don't play em out and don't get ripped of on this 2nd issue /release it's a scam, to lull you into thinking that it is rare a bit like East & West Coast records Differ?? but they are FAKE:ph34r:DAVE KIL

The only way you can list a boot on ebay and not have some people think it's an original is to state it as a re-issue, price and number of bids on it tends to indicate that it's not an original, buyers should always be aware and ask questions if not 100% sure.

Looks fine to me. Mine is slightly offset too and it hasn't gone anywhere in 35 years..........

No Worries with this one, it's definitely original.

There are a couple of different label credit variations for this one on the Original press issued at different pressing plants.

Things can & do happen at the printers / pressing plants.

This one "Gordy 7058" possibly a test run when changing from one Label Design to another, or simply a quality control error.

Regarding records still available in 2010 in Pristine Condition amazes me too, but they're out there if you're lucky.

I never knew Curtis Mayfield was involved in the Voices of East Harlem record until i looked at the label scan.

Like most people, I have pressings too, bought in the 70's and never will be passed on, they are what they are.

It is strangely Ironic that in order to collect "Soul Sounds" or "Out Of The Past" they can't be described correctly on ebay.

It has therefore been made even more Impossible collect them due to ebays rules. Hopefully anyone who bids will know exactly what they are bidding on.

I too don't like people being ripped off & in this instance a 2nd issue description muddies the waters as you point out.
