Benji
I quite like the Gas Powered Clock instrumental, but not as a Northern track more as a pop one. I think the Leo Wright cut sounds quite different to the United Four cut I'm used to. Will see if I can find my United Four mp3 and if it's really just a speeded up Leo Wright. Do you know if original acetate is uncredited? Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
I'll dig out what takes I have. I never really compared them to be honest when compiling the podcast. Not sure about the acetate, years since I ve seen it. Link to comment Social source share

Chalky
Its been awhile since the last one but I have been busy chasing the DJ's to put together these podcasts and make them as accurate as possible. I finally managed to corner Ady and together with a little help from others we've managed to come up with one and a half hours of what Ady played back in the early days of Stafford. Totally across the board as you would expect, some late Yate spins, few Wigan "oldies" and Stafford newies in the mix. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/ Allan Sisters - I'm In With The Downtown Crowd - QualitySoulettes - Bring Your Fine Self Home - ScopeNorma Jenkins & The Dolls - The Airplane Song - MalteseInticers - Since You Left - Baby LuvInspirations - No One Can Take Your Place - MidasDetroit Soul - All Of My Life - Music TownThe Group featuring Cecil Washington - I Don't Like To Lose - ProphonicsEddie Parker - I Love You Baby - AshfordChuck Holiday - Just Can't Trust Nobody - GloriaMajor IV - I Don't Believe In Losing - VentureCharles Johnson - Never Had A Love So Good - AlstonAlfie Davison - Love Is A Serious Business - Mercury 12"GQ - Make My Dream A Reality - AristaFelix Cavaliere - Never Felt Love Before - BearsvilleEd Summers - I Can tell - SoyaDee Dee Sharp - Happy Bout The Whole Thing - TSOPPatterson Twins - Gonna Find A True Love - CommercialSolid Gold Revue featuring Roy Crumley - She's So Good - CastanetEldridge Holmes - Gone Gone Gone - DeesuThe Larks - Come Back Baby - MoneyGene Chandler - I Hate To be The One To Say - ConstellationMatt lucas - You Better Go Go - KarenNomads - Somethings Bad - Mo GrooveSmokey Robinson - I Care About Detroit - Standard Groove/TamlaMargie Joseph - One More Chance - VoltFabulous Apollos - The One Alone - ValtoneWillie Mallory - You Went Back (On What You Said) - LanorThe Hytones - Bigger And Better - AbetChuck Holiday - I Still Love You - Gloria Bobby Kline - Say Something Nice To Me - MB RecordsKenny Young - Ain't It Funny What Love Can Do - Share Adam will be the focus of the next set of podcasts, enough material to compile three podcasts and the majority of it will be Modern Soul from back in the day. 2 Link to comment Social source share

Peter99
Look forward to it Byrney mate. There are now 15 podcast with something like 20 hours of listening. One more for Adam to do then it's the 60's Mafia!! The Guy and Keb ones will be interesting. I have to confess that I never really learnt to appreciate the "60's newies" offerings of the pair - in fact I despaired at them, really didn't like them at all. I guess there might be room for some debate there - although I'm pretty certain that we have done that one before. Interesting to hear some views though. I had a bad name for both Guy and Keb at the time - influenced by my take on their playlists. Link to comment Social source share

MrsWoodsrules
I'm loving the podcasts & the you youtube links from soul echoes, The Tempests is just sublime. Unfortunately I missed this entire period completely, have retired after Wigan (before the end actually), got into football & beer, but the music broken here sounds just great. A friend of mine & collector (Jeff Boardman from Warrington) had his best days here he always reckons, I think he may be right, looks like a golden period. Chalky has put together a piece of real musical and social history - something well worth recording. Absolutely great stuff - and must have taken a great deal of effort and time. I've already saluted the man - but thanks again Chalky. Peter Edited June 3, 2012 by Peter99 2 Link to comment Social source share
Benji
Chalky, just have say a big big thank you for all the Stafford podcasts. Being brought up on a diet of post-Stafford-late 80s-early 90s-100 club kind of Northern Soul TOTW seems like THE allnigher I wish I could have attended. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
Thanks for the comments they are appreciated. It is nice to know what you are doing is appreciated by others I have however re-recorded the first podcast of Guy's. On his notes he had Crazy Crazy down alongside Jo Jo Petite instead of Joey and I included Little Jeanette instead of Jo Jo Petite "Joey". I've now rectified that for the sake of accuracy 1 Link to comment Social source share
