Years ago I came across this on Deluxe, got all excited, only to be told it was a slower version. I bought it anyway. Anybody know anything about it? Did it ever get played? I think Rob Smith used to own the faster version. Just curious . . .

First heard this on a tape Dave Alcock gave me but it was under the wrong title so he must have had the same miss press as you, probably didn't know what it was really called though.

fast version on 7" hbr miss print was first played by rob smith way back in 11978 at notts tiffany;s monday night sessions  the record came from a notts collector  whom collected  mainley west coast labels mirwood,  renfro, etc. this and rodd keith " the lord said " both came out of this collection  when the guy sold up . he was a good friend of john poole his name was mick gordon , me and rob pulled some great unknowns at the time from the collection back to earl gains the album is called  the best of luck to you H.B.R MONO 8508 / STEREO 9508 the miss pressed 45 is titled " don't take my kindness for a weakness "     :thumbup:

I think I'm going to temper my joy as I'm sure the copy have has a tight edge crack NAP like but still.

Surely they didn't have piles of stampers lying around and picked up the wrong 'un (can't be as simple as that !)

i have the hbr lp, i distinctly remember john vincent playing it at wigan, circa 74/75, though i wasnt aware of its format at the time. later, i picked up a copy of the version on deluxe at winsford nighter, thinking it was infact, the fast version...disappointed, but eventually got the one i wanted...as for the mispress, thats new on me...but only uncle ted could be party to such invaluable information!!  great tune though, and really ought to be spun by more djs.

The HBR 45 (the one with & without the mis-press) ........... he only had 2 x 45 releases on the label (+ the mis-press version of this un) ............

Been in touch with the current license holder in the US & he's quite happy to grant the rights for "You Belong To Me" & any 2nd Earl Gains track for release on 45 if anyone here's interested.

The slower version is the one on the DELUXE label 45 mentioned in the first post in this thread.

 

Have managed to find myself a copy of the HBR 45 with the fast version since my previous post in this thread as well, so no longer need the matrix details...

Whilst on the subject of Earl Gaines, how do you tell the difference between the two takes off "It's Worth Anything"? Are the matrix details different. Which one is the rarer alternate take?

are we still talking about THIS tune?...amazing it's creating such interest.......SO COME ON PEEPS, if you've got it, get spinning it...it's just a total juggernaut and you can see why it got played at the casino, but that was almost 40 YEARS AGO!....GET IT OUT OF YOUR BOXES!!

Well I'm not a fan of loads of tracks that got played at the Casino ... BUT ... the track that's posted up on post #3 of this thread I do like.

A bit fast for these old creakin legs of mine but it is one I would happily listen to in a venue & at home.

WEll Ive had the mispress before but in low condition & sold it to a local DJ here ! Sold it to him at the right price(£60?) given condition it being VG at best.

However had the tune running through my head again and I did a search and blow me a Belgian dealer not only had one for 15 euros BIN in Ex cond he even had the soundfile for both sides stating the soundfiles was directly lifted from the record. ITs arrived and I am chuffed! PS I only thought the mispress is on the demo copies not the issues!
