Back in the mid 80's, I went to a black music record fair at the Old Vic hotel in Wolverhampton and picked up a copy of Edwin Starr - I have faith in you on UK Polydor. It was in great condition, except for some wavy writing in ballpoint pen on the SOS side.

A couple of years ago I decided to catalogue my collection of 45's on my PC, including making notes about condition etc. It was only then that I noticed that the writing was actually Edwin's signature!

I guess that in some circumstances, writing, or even radio station stickers can add interest and desirability to a record. A radio station sticker can put a 45 in a specific place in time I guess.

Does anyone else have anything of interest, or maybe you always like your labels 100% clean?

  •   Nah it's a great record - if you remove the Northern connotations - I love 60's tv themes

  • I think really personal, long private messages / dedications from the artist to friends / lovers / family from back in the day are pretty awesome.   Records signed from the artist to Briti

Here are a couple with Stickers that should be classed as part of a records promotion and therefore Belong.

Nice to have a clean label but certain Stickers / DJ Graffiti from back in the 60s I don't mind.

Regarding Graffiti, It's probably Impossible to verify / endorse , Sometimes it just looks right so fair enough.

Artist, Producer, etc  Signed copies It really comes down to research / provenance I suppose.

subtle, i think the creations on globe one is the best so far. one of the best records and i would have never noticed the valentine's day.

you gotta pop out the metal center on that cheryl ann. i finally picked up that skill after years of unsuccessful attempts. apparently all rockabilly collectors can do it in 2 seconds.

I don't want to risk breaking it Boba ....

I have a copy of Standing at a Standstill by Sherlock Holmes which has been signed by him. Unfortunately I don't know how to post a picture.

Oh come on ...  it's elementary my dear Watson

Sorted.

It looks like a nice copy, that has been defaced by having writing on the label!!!

Autographs on labels, are records that have been defaced/damaged by having writing on the label!

There are only a set number of originals in the world of each record, and they can never be replaced!!!

Each one that gets damaged is one less for ever!

Well if that's the case Ray Pollard defaced my Shrine 45 "This time"!!! Others artists also seem to have also defaced 45 and lps....
