Very sad news.  Session drummer on a lot of classic Chicago Soul 45s as well.  Absolute legend.

RIP Maurice. The brains and driving force behind one the greatest soul bands of all time. Excellent live performers too. I saw them at Wembley Arena in 1988.

I can't seem to be able to embed the you tube clip but below is a link to "That's The Way Of The World"

R.I.P. Maurice, yes indeed, E.W.F. were the soundtrack to our formative years. Their music was always in the background such was the quantity and quality of their work

Kev

Another sad passing. Played drums on Rescue Me and with Ramsey Lewis for a while. His writing and producing for EWF and others was very high quality. EWF were a cracking live act.

One of the best live show bands to go and see ... ever !!

Maurice will be very sadly missed

Very sad, to hear of Maurice passing.Takes me back all those years.I can remember the first time I heard the song September literally blew me away. Earth Wind & Fire one of if not the best band ever to appear on stage.

Rip Maurice

Perhaps not a soul group in the traditional sense but I loved their work, as always very sad. Sometimes you just wish you could press a pause button on life.

Small world Swifty  .....  great gig :)  I saw them a few times ..NEC Birmingham , when they did the space ship tour and all disappeared into the ship then exploded and all had  vanished .... and reappeared underneath as the helmet clad aliens..  What a band .. don't make them like that anymore

Bloody hell mate went to that one also  and I'm pleased you put that about the spaceship, aliens and explosion because I was

trying to explain to my young oppo (only 24) in the office about this earlier and kinda looked at me gone out

Cheers

Showing our age now mate :):) .... I travelled the length and breadth of the country to see bands .. still do .. just now I stay more or less in and around London as a Southern Scouser  ... Incognito last month at the Jazz Café , which has just closed its doors as new owners are refurbishing it .. had my Alexander O'Neil tickets reissued to XOYO ..

Our paths must have crossed a few times then mate .. without knowing :)

Very sad news  , Saw EWF in 1978 at Bingley Hall Stafford what a show , Pyramids ,spaceships , levitating bass players and brilliant music .

Maurice you will be missed RIP .

Sad news indeed, saw EWF at Bingley hall and NEC, mind blowing. Remember dancing to "Happy Feelin'  and 'Sing A Song' at The Highland Room, what a loss, RIP Maurice. Gonna name my new motorhome 'Kalimba' in memory of the great man!!

Tim.
