OK folks was trawlling ebay yesterday day and came across this rare texas soul the mustangs " tender lovin care"on the stangs label out of texas absoulute stormer of a 60's record at a buy it now price of $1,447.00 went on yesterday morning went off at 3pm yesterday sold to a top u.k. d.j. this will be a monster dancefloor sound in the next few months hopefully label will be attatched to view :huh::lol::lol:

Sounded like a 60's garage tune rather than anything else. One for the mod scene rather than the northern scene i'd have thought.

Wouldn't give it house room myself.

sounds like a great record to me ! loads of balls and very different ! obviously a rare item !

What I'm intrigued about is twofold....

Firstly.... how many people will begin "big this up" just because this "top UK DJ" starts playing it out.... and have even changed their opinion of it just because it's this DJ in question (who :g: )....

Or secondly.... who will have the audacity to approach said DJ to suggest how "shite" this actually is :wicked: .... thus promoting the old "rare don't mean quality" chestnut :rolleyes: ....

p.s forgot to say it's a "platter of shite" to my ears :lol: ....

I must be missing something---it may be rare and expensive but it ain,t a soul record or even a Northern soul record (if you get my drift) how can it compare with the likes of --My Proposal,Sweet Memories etc.

Wonder if the "Top UK DJ" has read any of the posts on here about his new find!

In my experience most "Top UK DJs" with a few very notable exceptions dont have much in the way of taste anyway and just play what the others play or what some dealer tells them they "need" to have!

To me this sounds just like early Creedence Clearwater Revival when they used to sing under The Golliwogs name, but only not as good. Sounds like a white singer ? or most likely Tex-Mex ?

This just proves my theory about the current trend for more uptempo stuff at venues at the moment. Fine for oldies do's but for more upfront venues there simply isn't enough quality new uptempo stuff to find. If Wigan resorted to playing cr*p to satisfy the demand for uptempo, given the ease and wealth of stuff to be found back then, what chance have you got now? I wondered how long it would be before the cr*p surfaced to fill the tempo demand, looks like it's started!

Absolutly agree....great tune for a punk 6ts garage party....but no for a cool allnighter, cannot imagine a top UK djs spinning this kind of...****.

Love uptempo but really don't like this one. The vocals and music just didn't gel somehow.

Sounded pretty bad quality too and in a word was just too 'messy'!!!

A good DJ should be able to blend the tempo's within a spot to keep all happy. I don't want an entire hour of plodders or an hour of crossover either, but nor do I want an entire night of banging uptempo. Never had it before, Wigan, Stafford etc all played a cross section of tempo's and usualy all within a DJ's one hour slot. Keeps it interesting and all the better for it IMHO. The record that started this topic might be totally different at minue 2 or even 4. And to say it ain't northern well many records I hear when out I wouldn't call northern but it's all down to individual taste.

Also the above record apparently filled the floor at the last Lifeline so I'm told, wasn't there to witness as I'd been busy falling of trailers at work :thumbsup::lol: The dancefloor rules wink.gif

Spot on. It's all over the place. That driving tinny back beat is really annoying, is it a guitar all the way through? Not sure it's too fast, just a bit strange and disjointed.

Sounds fine to dance to speedwise, think the last 10 seconds are a bit messy, but other than that, a dancer would probably like it.

Agree with you trevski,however look at the tunes the LEGEND keeps turnig up...........quality or what? :thumbsup:

Turned this one down fairly recently at a much, much lower price. I try and look for the positive in all records, and although this has a little "something" in places, overall it's very disjointed with little structure, I can't see many people singing this to themselves on the way home from an Allnighter. As far as it being "massive" it doesn't deserve it, there are, in my opinion, far , far better examples of this style of "Northern" waiting to get spun.

playing devils advocate......there's countless established northern tracks that are messy and all over the place, strange and disjointed.....often the appeal is they aren't perfect. I wouldn't say the Mustangs is all over the place, it sounds pretty consistent to me.

The other one on the label is better, was covered up and played at Scenesville I think, that turns up on ebay occasionally. Pretty sure that I picked this one up on ebay for a few dollars a few years back to see what it was like. Very much a played it once and onto the shelf record :thumbsup:
