  1. Scorching guitar solo .....great record.
  2. I remember being at the front of the stage when Gene Chandler came on, in Duke of Earl costume...he noticed all the punters tape recorders running on the stage and he deftly switched them off with his feet😃
  3. I seem to remember reading IOICBS was a pretty seller in the States when released...
  4. Mid nineties at the Ritz in Manchester and Bretby dos...doubtless elsewhere as well....it got hammered though and as with so many records on the scene, familiarity breeds contempt ....overplayed but still a great record

Gutted. Had so many great times with Jim. We were only in fits of laughter at Cleethorpes the other week. He always made a point of asking after my boys too. It was a privilege to have known you. Rest in peace my friend. Jim.
  11. Great great record. I know Bob Hinsley used to occasionally spin it but its still either forgotten or unknown to many. The rest of the cd is pretty good too ATB Jim.
  12. If you dont ask...!? Anyone have a copy of 'Its so real' on Brown Dog? Regards Jim.
  13. Sorted now, thanks. Jim.

  16. I was just about to write the same thing Tony. That was where I first heard it and got one shortly after. Val was a great dj.
  17. About 30 odd US imports in a Brisbane record shop in 97, some crackers! 50c each. A run of Hotlanta 45s in a junk shop in Hobart that same year! ATB Jim.
  18. I've only ever missed two as I was out of the country. Cleethorpes has been a permanant fixture on my calendar for all those years through births, deaths, marriages, jobs and the odd record purchase. Nothing else has come close for music, entertainment, venue and bacon rolls in the cafe at 430 in the morning. The live acts over the years have been truly astounding...remember Willie Tee, Bettye Swann, Carl Carlton, HB Barnum..oh, and of course Maxine...et al But its also been a place where real friendships have been forged, some of whom I see only at Cleethorpes and the conversation always picks up right where we left off.. If I'm honest what I'll miss most is the camaraderie of the crazy Sunday night session, without doubt my favourite night of the year, which would never 'work' anywhere else, which if anything tells us to just enjoy the bloody music. If I had to explain you'd never understand! Everytime I hear 'California Montage' I always get a lump in my throat. Truly gutted its probably the last one but hey , 25 events is a helluva thing eh?! I've never followed football, but if I did its akin to my favourite club shutting up shop and calling it a day. Apologies in advance for my emotional state on the Sunday night this year, Ill be a bloody blubbing mess for sure. Thank you for it all A.C.
  19. A wonderful read. This record still makes the hair on the back of my gregory stand on end. ATB Jim.
  20. Bobby Lee Fears ' Exodus'. Unplayed copy in original sleeve, attempted to gently push adaptor out after first play....CRACK...! All the way through.. 40 years old, I had it ten minutes and ffd it up!
  21. One of my first compilations. Wonderfully succinct notes from Dave and a cracking tracklist. Paper round money well spent in 1984. Jim.
  22. One of my favourite albums Mike?
