Bootleg - Takes
I'm definitely not in the mood of starting an argument. But it's you that don't get it. Do yourself a favour, look up counterfeit in a dictionary. Counterfeiting DOES NOT refer to the music. It does refer to the medium. You can counterfeit a five pound note. And by this you don't counterfeit the value of a five pound note. You counterfeit the appearance of a five pount note. period.

Bootleg - Takes
If you're not sure if ownership of an acetate entitles to release it legally to the market you don't even know half the score you're trying to make us believe. I give you a hint: It does not. Imagine a writer giving his mate the draft of his latest novel because he wasn't happy with it. does it legitimate his mate to print it and put it on the market? Of course not. Also, a counterfeit is an illegal replica. Look up the dictionary. Not just a reissue. A counterfeit is made to look as close as possible to the original. That Rita thing on TRC and both Motown LP tracks are therefore no counterfeits but illegal reissues. I agree with you when it comes to definition of bootleg in the wider record collecting world. it's first and foremost pressings of previously unreleased live recordings. However, this is the Strange World of Northern Soul. Where 40 years old records are called "Modern". So shall we rather stick with the definitions everybody's used to?

Bretby Modern Room Revisited
Dave, thanks a lot for posting, some great tunes. As it happens I came across the Bretby 1st Anniversary 12" the other day. One side 70s, other 60s. Were the 70s tunes played in the Modern room? I understand the "NY City walkers" one is an uncredited acetate you played?

VA CD "Rare, Collectable And Modern" on Base Camp Records BCCD104
Yes, Recordshack is still in business. I said it before, what's so funny to me about this CD: Back in the late 90s I did a homemade CD called "For Modern Millionaires only vol.2". Sort of unofficial successor to Goldmine's For Modern Millionaires only. Only a few copies made that I gave to friends. The CD you're after is more or less a carbon copy of it, bar 2/3 tracks. And it's probably as legal as the one I did.

The Emanons & Cory Glover
"sad little girl" is by Les McCann, LP only track. Are both sides of the pressing credited to Cory Glover?
-
C/U
Are you really playing stuff like this at soul venues?
-
WOW!!! Get a load of this version of the 4 Tops
Among the best he did. So Impressions-ish...

Willie Tee "you gonna pay some dues" £4000
That bloke is a sure joker. Kissi Jacobs on Blackjack @ 100 quid ("Fantastic Virtually Unknown 60s Female Northern"). He forgets to mention it's a 1990's press done by that infamous bloke in Las Vegas. What was his name Richie Rosen or so?

soul bros inc pyramid how much for a mint one after this
Hands up who remembers back in early/mid 90s when Craig Moerer bought remaining Soul Bowl stock, found multiple copies of this one and offered it for something like $150 but didn't buy it for whatever reason. I raise my hand

What the F
Just for the record: Of course it's not a reissue. We know that and seller knows. But, if you state "bootleg" in your item description you'd be kicked out of Ebay straight away. So don't take the "reissue/2nd issue/later issue" part too literally.

Jerry Ganey RIP
Not forgetting his (probably) first record. The mighty mighty beat ballad "just a fool"

More today than yesterday - The Spiral Staircase
There's a german CBS release from 1969 as well. I have a demo so I don't know what the issue picture sleeve looks like. BTW, there's another version by Babs Acklin on her Someone else's Arms album. Nice take, not dancefloor material. But much more soulful than Spiral Staircase, which I think is just a mediocre pop tune.

Original or Re-Issue
I'm pretty tolerant towards pressing in the sense that they don't bother me. But i get more and more intolerant towards repetetive threads. Is there really a need for a) opening another boot vs origs topic and b) posting replies in it?

Is this a recent bootleg? And does anyone have more info about the General Assembly pressing that Steve mentions?

My cup runneth over- Rita Graham on 45
Please stop beating around the bush. "Recent podcasts", "Willie Tee on Gatur", "Sam Moore holy grail". It's so obvious you guys talk about Ian Levine and his soul packs. If both, Rita and Willie Tee 45s infact turned up in IL soul packs why not say so?
