Souljer6 70 Posted May 29, 2017 We have missed the odd one or two ...but not many. We won't miss this one. It is the BEST and Ady has been the perfect promoter. Can our scene find a promoter with his dedication and integrity to carry it on? Let's hope so. Rich & Gill Link to comment
Ady Croasdell 2,484 Posted June 2, 2017 Clarification I don't want everyone to think I'm saying it's the last one when it may not be so so here's the state of play as featured in this year's programme. "A generation of muddling through has taken its toll on my head and I’m not up to running the whole shebang anymore. In typical Croasdell fashion I only have a vague idea of what will happen next year. I’ve had about ten individuals or consortiums approach me to take over and I’m still trying to work out the best way of passing it on to capable hands. I am imagining I will at least have a year or two of attending as a DJ/bar prop while the new promoters get settled in, or I could even be a sleeping partner if someone has the wherewithal to run it how I feel you like it. As I’m always last minute due to a chaotic home life and gross inefficiency, the change should actually make the event better-run and organised. It should also see me enjoying myself at a weekender for the first time since Yarmouth - instead of fretting over nothing as has increasingly been the case. I’ve booked the same second weekend in June at the Beachcomber – who have been their usual understanding selves over the matter - for whoever is in charge. Don’t send any deposits to me, the new team need to take control of those. I have all your addresses and emails from the last ten or more years so rest assured you will be informed some time over the summer when it’s settled. Just keep June 8th-10th 2018 free. If you’re worried you aren’t receiving newsletters from me, just email me your address to ady.croasdell@btinternet.com It's definitely my last one as head honcho; maybe they'll give me a gardening job, or I can draw the raffle numbers!See you next week. Stubbsy 182 Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) Nice review from Geoff on what was once again a great weekend. Hope it's on again next year in a similar guise as it's always the first date on my calendar! Nice to see lot's of old faces and as usual Beachcomber staff most helpful and friendly. Big thanks to my fellow caravaner's Geoff, Dave Swift & Martin Thomson. Heard some great music over the weekend, especially a lot of new stuff (to me) in the Modern Room Also a big thanks to the DJ's who helped me out with my queries on various records I heard them play , namely fellow SS members Steve Woomble, Ivor Jones, Mark Randall and Cliff Steele (if Cliff is on here?) Well done Ady - Cleethorpes still the number one weekender! Edited June 13, 2017 by Stubbsy 2 Link to comment

Popular Comment Ady Croasdell 2,484 Posted June 23, 2017 Popular Comment Recovered! I’ve caught up with work and family duties are all sorted, so here’s a very belated message to all the Cleethorpes carousers, and further clarification on Cleethorpes 2018. Thank you for all the very kind words over the weekend, before and since. I have letters, texts, emails and PMs which I have kept and will enjoy re-reading in my dotage. I must thank Matt for organising the Cleggy scrap book he made for me and got so many of you to write in; great photos, memories and warm comments. I couldn’t look at it until the Thursday and as expected I was in pieces when I did. I didn’t realise that the DJ shenanigans was a fix until the very last round when I fell over but didn’t get disqualified. Thanks to whoever cooked that one up and many thanks to Dave Rimmer and Andy Newman for getting the Mighty Bub trophy engraved and up-to-date. It’s a bit like the World Cup scenario - if you win it 3 times you get to keep it. The band got me a nice bottle of bubbly and there were bottles of all kinds of booze; you have my number! Finally the Whitson party frae Edinburgh gave me a beautiful Scottish Quaich – a drinking cup for sharing something serious with friends and family at home. I usually hate anything ornamental but this is absolutely beautiful and maybe I’ll bring it up next year to share a few bevies with friends when I’m not fretting any more. There are too many people to thank individually for 25 glorious events. The weekender has just got better and better and when so many people say it is their highlight of the year, I have to do my darnedest to pass it on to an appropriate adult. It really is a combination of live acts, great DJs, helpful staff and dedicated attendees that makes it what it is; the venue’s pretty special too. So I’ll do a bunch of accounts over the next month or two, look at my short list of folks who wish to take-over or help run the thing, discuss it with the most appropriate and hope we can come up with an outstanding person to take it on from here. We’re agreed it’s very far from broken so I’ll only consider people who can improve without great change. I’m hoping by the end of the summer I can announce the new organisers, it’s highly likely I’ll be advising and attending for the first couple of years at the very least. June 8th-10th 2018 all being groovy. I’m not retiring from anything else so see you at the 100 Club and keep buying those Kent compilations; I’d make a lousy busker. Ady www.6ts.info 6 Link to comment
