Carolyn Crawford and fellow Detroiter Willie Jones have been announced as the headline acts for the 2019 6T’s Cleethorpes Rare & Modern Soul Weekender. Both will perform on Saturday night
With Jr Walker's All Star Band gracing the stage on Friday night
All backed by Ronnie Nelson's TFO band live and direct form Detroit!
The event takes place over the weekend of June 7 to 9 at The Beachcomber Holiday Park.
Carolyn is one of the few artists to have recorded for both Tamla Motown and Philadelphia International, was a member of Chapter 8, and her amazing vocals on Hamilton Bohannon’s “Let’s Start The Dance” have made it one of dance music’s mosticonic anthems.
Willie will be making his debut U.K. appearance and is sure to get an ecstatic response when he performs the Wingate classic “Love Game (From A To Z)” which he recorded as part of The Royal Jokers. Willie’s set will also include “My Baby Ain’t No Plaything” which Richard “Popcorn” Wylie produced on Willie.
Next year’s Cleethorpes Weekender will be the 27th annual event, making it easily the longest running Soul Weekender in the World, but for the first time Ady Croasdell will not be at the helm as promoter. Phil Dick and Neil Rushton’s Soul Partners set-up have taken over the event, following Ady’s decision to take a back seat.
Neil said: “It is a privilege to get involved and Ady has agreed to be involved as a DJ and in an advisory capacity and will bring his huge experience of the event with him. Our intention is to keep the continuity going of what makes Cleethorpes so special. Ady has brought some amazing artists to the event in the past, and we are delighted that Carolyn and Willie will be keeping the tradition going.”
Tickets are available at £59 for the full weekend pass and £39 for the Saturday all-niter
