You twisting hypocrite - what a tosser you are Ernie!!

Twisting Hypocrite - Is that a dance or something sang by the Olympics

Its easy to make personal statements like that- back it up with empirical evidence!

Or is it you dont have enough molecules in your brain to collide!

Debate on an itellectual level Mike instead of name calling!

i for one am not 'slagging' people off for enjoying themselves, if there is any 'slagging' off by me it would be aimed at those who are deluded enough to put on an event in a shopping centre thinking it resembles the casino in any way shape or form other than it's 'footprint' and 'seeling' it as a CASINO re-union/anniversary or whatever link they decide to try and forge.

i hope the 1,000 have a really great time but i wouldn't be seen dead at such an event. i also hope the thousands that line the Thames at the boat race have a good time but again, i wouldn't be seen anywhere near that event, to me that's as near to northern soul as say dancing in a shopping centre!:shades:

I take it we wont be going then coops, just sewn me badges on my bag for life, thought it might be in keeping :boxing:

Im looking forward to this, i went to the first one but missed the last one, i dont think its like going to a Soul night, but it makes a nice change & you can meet up with all your old friends whilst listening to some good music. thumbsup.gif

Plus i think it was a good idea to have Monaco the next day which is a large dance hall in Wigan, looking forward to a great weekend thumbup.gif

But as the old saying goes, you cant please everybody!

I would not mind if the shops were open, i could do some more shoe shopping, cant i Ian! whistling.gif

The Monaco is one of the very best dance floors anywhere in this country i should know i have been going there for over 40 years on and off and first dance to soul music there in 1969

I wonder if you can help me, I am really interested in Sunday's add on event, the one at Monaco Ballroom Hindley (in the venue that Bob Brierley has been running soul nights at for the last ten years)

I see that you advertise 'The first ever every Northern Soul Awards' at 8pm, at www.wigan-casino.co.uk

Can you give a little more detail about this part of the event.

What are the categories?

Who are the nominees?

Who nominated them?

How were they voted for?

Can I still vote?

Who's counting or counted the votes?

Who will be presenting The first ever Northern Soul Awards?

Sorry I can't make the Saturday event as I am at Lifeline Allnighter in Wolverhampton, but if you can let me know about the questions listed above I will paypal my £6 plus £1.50 booking fee straight away

Think I can guess who has won 'The Lifetime Achievement Award

Luv it luv it. Yep i know you sell cold Fosters there cos we won't have it in the pubs here, maybe something to do with it being brewed in Northampton. Nice to know you have a boat on the canal, bet you can't see the bottom for all the crap in the water tho'. Only having a lend of ya and it's all in good humour. Will be over there in 3 weeks, doing the Skeggy weekender. Can't wait, good ole' fish and chips, pukka pies, cold John Smiths and i just know the suns gonna shine. You have a nice weekend mate and if you are coming to Skeggy look me up for a chat and a pint.

Hi Stef,

Having sold 1000 tickets doesn't mean that anybody has "won" in this debate. To use your words, the "S.S. Experts" will simply think that there are over 1000 deluded souls out there, that are all buying into to this charade, where as people like yourself will look at the numbers as justification that it's the right thing to do!!

This event would certainly not get me to part with any hard earned, that's for sure, but if that's your bag, then go & enjoy what you do. :good:

I also think that if you read some of the posts from the " S.S. Experts" they are simply saying in their opinion that dancing in a shopping arcade is totally alien to them, as some have also said that a celebration of Wigan Casino is not the problem, its where it is being held & the bandwagon that drives it along, which you seem to be firmly behind .

You are of course entitled to your opinion, as is everyone on here. Maybe it wouldn't seem so crass if you posted on here on a more regular basis, rather than simply "appearing" on here to promote / justify certain events?

By all means, celebrate your soul past...........just don't forget that there is also a soul present & a soul future out there!!

regards,

John Mc.

Tried to reply to this on my Blackberry but wouldnt have it, I actually enjoy both eliments of the Northern soul scene, this is once a year party nite, it could have been worse it might have been a funeral directors or worse still a Conservative Club, the SS experts forget to say in "In there opinion" and what Russ`s hairstyle got to do with his Djaying skills I dont know, the expert who thinks a fine head of hair req would be booking the trio from Top Gear to dj .

If you chat to Russ you will know all the records that were being played all night at the Casino were following a strict play list policy which he oversaw this would mean any stuff played by richard was under Russ`s control .Sam decided to do his own thing and got the bullet.so cant see how Russ was the worse dj as metioned by the SS experts.most the youngsters were far to blocked to know who was djaying, or care.

I couldnt reguarly post on here, it is totally alien to the friendship that I have felt at every NS event I have attended, the combination of the High priests and Cornish Wreckers, drive many people away.

Recently I helped Dave Reed put a Tommy Hunt charity event on and I mentioned Soul Source , we agreed we could do without the hassle and gave it a miss, such a shame.

Another great nite had by all at Wigan and nice to have a little tease with the lads

you just dont get it at all with regards to russ as the WORST DJ

im beging to think you never went on a saturday night to the casino !

as if you where there youd know why people travelled there it was mostly to hear richard pat sam and the others who played newies ive never ever meet anyone who went just to hear russ play records and after it closed where was he !

The pecking order why most went there was

1 Wigan Casino

2 Russ Winstanley

3 Richard and Kev

in my humble opinion

But what is fact is Russ has the most listemed to Soul Radio show and his Google Ranking outstrips all other DJs by over 700% .

Shakin Stevens may be a better singer than Elvis but only one will go down in the history books
