Guest tony hatfield
North Yorkshire Soul Club in association with www..co.uk Are pleased to announce The First Autumn Northern & Rare Soul Weekender 15th to 17th October 2010 At the Scarborough Spa Complex, South Bay, Scarborough. Following the successful sell-out soul nights and all-dayers at the Riley Smith Hall in Tadcaster and by talking to YOU the dedicated loyal Soul fans we realised there was a demand for a Weekender reflecting the true roots of the Northern Soul Scene in the Autumn months. At the present time and looking around the soul calendar most weekend events at this time of year are aimed at the more commercial end of the soul spectrum. Most of the people we have been meeting and talking to want to keep to the true roots of our scene, much in the vein of what has been achieved musically at both the Riley Smith Hall and the York Soul Club. Capacity crowds prove the demand is there when something is done right and reflects the true mood of the crowd and scene in general. Scarborough has a rich history on the soul scene and many famous venues have come and gone since the Mod days of the early 1960s. The venue we have chosen-The Spa Complex-has even played host to all-nighters and all-dayers in the recent past. In choosing the Scarborough Spa we will have the flexibility to adapt the event as it grows year on year. 2010 will see the inaugural Weekender over the weekend 15th to 17th October, this will be in 2 rooms. The main floor will feature Classic Northern Soul and current floor-fillers, with the emphasis on quality original tunes spun by a selection of DJs who have in depth knowledge and experience to keep the dancers happy! With the fabulous dance floor superbly maintained, this is an ideal venue for dancing in comfort with space to really move your feet (the venue currently hosts several professional dance events and regional heats for Ballroom championships). https://www.360etours...0&c=196ℑ=0 As with Riley Smith and indeed York Soul Club our second room is given over to a "Freestyle" theme, this will included Rare and underplayed sounds through to 70s and Crossover sessions throughout the weekend. You'll never know what you are going to hear next with the emphasis being place on original records and quality Djs with the depth in their collections to play something a little special. Tickets are priced at just £25 and details on how to purchase them will be available very soon, along with the confirmed DJ line up. We really think the timing of this event offers a great opportunity for a weekend break on the lovely North Yorkshire Coast, just before the clocks go back and the winter gloom starts to set in! Capacity at the 2010 weekender will be approximately 1,500 so the whole weekend will have a nice intimate feel about it and the town has excellent Road and Rail links. A lot more to follow, but we thought we would share the good news with you all and give you something to really look forward to for next Autumn. Yours in Soul Tony and Tracy Hatfield on behalf of the North Yorkshire Soul Club Link to comment
Illya
If it's anything like your other events it will be a great success, if you require a hand with anything just ask. I think you can guarantee not to get a sun tan just flush with top quality DJs. Looking forward to it already Andy Link to comment

West Yorkshire JACK KITCHING CHARITY APPEAL EVENT (FREE CD TO 1ST 50 ) DETAILS Hi, yeah, Gina has told me last night that if you go on the council web-site they will be starting work after Xmas down the Spa. There not going to be spending the 12 million they did on the Brid Spa, more around 3 for Scarborough and the work will be on-going. Link to comment
Guest the dukester
Hi Tony, Scarborough is known for being famous as the home of the Scooter Boy, and the soul scene here has recently been put back on its feet. I am suprised you didn't mention anything about a weekender here in Scarborough last Riley Hall when we saw you!? reading your proposals for a Weekender here in Scarborough was like reading a polaticians draft typed up by two soliciters, only joking Pat. We have managed to build up a healthy scene here these days and have a selection of DJs that have in depth knowledge that are providing Scarborough people with 'happiness' playing our rare and classic original vinyl at the Scaboro' Northcliffe Golfclub. We dont advertise on S.S as we sell out tickets for are soul nights fast within the town itself, through word of mouth. We would welcome any part in helping the N.Y.S.C. for the Weekend. Best of luck from Scarborough Soul Club, , we will try to not double book and clash any dates with you guys parachuting in. Jock. Would second that Jock, have got some good knowledgeable Soul people in Scarborough as well as a thriving Scooter Community. As Jock says Northcliffe Golfclub is a nice venue for soul music, can just imagine what it would be like with summer soul with those views over the north bay Link to comment

Yours in Soul Tony and Tracy Hatfield on behalf of the North Yorkshire Soul Club GREAT VENUE, NEVER VENTURED OUT OF THE MAIN ROOM LAST TIME I WAS THERE. HEARD THAT THE OTHER ROOM WAS SMALL SO AM GOBSMACKED THAT THIS IS 1500 CAPACITY - AM WONDERING IF THIS IS GOING TO BE LIKE WHITBY USED TO BE. YOU GET IN EARLY GET A GOOD TABLE AND THERE'S FIVE OR SIX ROWS DEEP STOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR. NOTHING WRONG WITH A PACKER OF COURSE BUT PERSONALLY DO LIKE TO SEE THE DANCERS ON THE FLOOR.I'M TALKING ABOUT THE OCEAN ROOM HERE. IF YOUR TALKING THE GRAND HALL OF COURSE, THEN THAT'S A DIFFERENT MATTER, IT'S MASSIVE. Edited March 25, 2010 by The Joker Link to comment

NEV
