Thanks guys " DJ's 2 rooms-Northern Oldies/Rare and Underplayed.. Main room DJ team for July 16th- Butch(His last appearance at the Kings Hall All Nighter), Chris King, Dave Evison,Sean Chapman, John Poole, Nige Brown,Kev Roberts, Rob Smith, Andy Dyson plus A selection of invited collectors spin in the Windsor Room including Soul Sam, John Weston, Ady Pountain plus Julie H. OPEN 9pm-7am Bar until 4 Soft Drinks/Canteen open all night. Here's a recent blog about the last All Nighter on October 3rd 2009 Courtesy of Soul Source. I just have to say it's been a long time coming and boy was it worth the wait . I just knew it was going to be an amazing night from entering the room when Arthur was playing The limelighters ....... what a tune to walk into I had no idea he had it , should have known better. Kings Hall now has the complete "Soul Trinity" something for everyone to enjoy. The room took a little while to warm it must have been around 11.30 before its audience arrived. I was so pleased to see the room well suported , for this room to survive in the future it has to have active participants to support the Dj's. By Midnight it was kicking , in fact the room appeared too small ! The sets were inspiring exciting and you just did not want to miss a track. I felt priveleged to be there for its birth. I thought it must have been so nice for Butch to play sounds that are still inspiring him to carry on to strive forward in finding new sounds on his HOME patch. I mean I would normally have to travel to somewhere like the 100 club to hear sound of this quality. All the Dj's pulled the stops out they were brilliant. And everything was upbeat I just can't put into words how good that was to hear so many danceable tracks that I did not know. I found the room very welcoming , sometimes places can feel intimidating , this did not have that vibe at all , everyone was smiling and just soaking up perfection in soul. In fact a few dealers didn't even open their boxes they were too busy enjoying themselves watching something very special evolve. I can only see this room growing , big thanks for the man at the top of the stairs for answering my prayers . Lovely to see lots of friends from all over the UK , Spot I owe you a slap lol , fancy handing me a menu as I arrive ...you you you ! Actually you dipped out on my picnic of home made cornish pasties . Agentsmith
1500 soulies in the building....surely that speaks for itself....THIS IS THE BIGGEST, MOST SUCCESSFUL NITER ON THE PLANET!!,...well done kev, sam and all the dj's and dancers....wearing their hearts on their sleeves. not to put too finer point on it, this wonderful music of ours is having a profound effect on youngsters all across the uk....hundreds of mods there last night and, i suspect, a good many others driven on to a pleasurable experience by their parents, when all around in the outside world there's nothing but mundane banality....CAN YOU ALL SEE WHY THE KIDS WANT SOMETHING DEFINITIVE IN THEIR LIVES.....THATS WHAT NORTHERN SOUL IS.....ITS MUSIC WITH REAL LYRICS THAT HAVE MEANING.....NOT CONTRITE COMPUTER GENERATED JUNK!. anyway there's the soapbox experience rearing its head again kings hall truly is the scene's magnetic pole and when youve got a line-up that boasts some of the country's greatest djs, whats to stop anyone gravitating there?. i bow to the superiority of BUTCH who epitomises what we have all come to understand as the deliverer of quality RARE soul, the windsor suite was jumping to his awe-inspiring set and had probably been bristling with anticipation for several hours before...he NEVER disappoints....a genuine shame that he is riding off into the sunset...it remains to be seen who steps up to the plate in his absense, but knowing the way this scene coalesces and is driven on, somebody's gonna want to fill the gap. first time for ANDY DYSON, caught him at mick h's do and has this bloke's got some awesome tunes or what?, could well be on the playlist in the main room and if so, its gonna make the first team look unbeatable!!. SEAN, NIGE, DAVE.E, GINGER, J.P. "THE PIE MAN", KINGY AND ROB SMITH.....top line-up, wonderful diverse variety of tunage right across the board as you expect and loads of oldies that haven't had the dust wiped off em in years, finally getting their due....to quote stevie wonder.....it was "HOTTER THAN JULY"......PEOPLE....after having such an outer body experience.......ARE YOU REALLY BOTHERED ABOUT THE FIXED PENALTY NOTICES?? ROLL ON OCTOBER YES,..........BRING ON THE TOWER...PERLEEEEEEZZZZZZZE!! Guest souldjer 1
does what it says on the tin.superb. THANKS TO ALL FOR SUCH A SUPERB,WELL ORGINIZED LONG RUNNING TOP EVENT...reminder of how it was for the 30th aniversary many moons ago..except for the lack of manners /respect for dancers and others around them of quite a few rude folk standing infront of dancing soulies, either taking the piss or just taking up valued dancing space for true soulies. MAYBE A BARRIER STOPPING FOLK WALKING FROM THE BAR,DOWN THE SIDES OF THE DANCEFLOOR WITH DRINKS SPILLING EVERYWHERE, COULD BE AN IDEA.AS THERE IARE CORRIDORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MAIN ROOM. Guest casinolasse
I second your comments souldjer was ALOT of drunkards in there last night and they do become a nuisance, maybe the door staff should be told to keep them of the floor evict 1or 2 of em and the rest will soon get the message after all it is a northern soul event and not a stag or hen night Link to comment
