  • Reduced me to tears great documentary.  Will try and get to one of his shows.

  • Can't wait to see him at Glasto.   I agree about the documentary too Chalky. Already read the moving piece about him in the Guardian but the film had me close to tears at one point. Really

I agree about the documentary too Chalky. Already read the moving piece about him in the Guardian but the film had me close to tears at one point. Really enjoyed seeing the closeness and mutual respect among the Daptone family too.

I watched it on Friday and then again last night with my brother who isn't a soul fan. I sneakily watched him welling up a few times and he kept on asking "how old is this bloke really"? It was a great programme. I have a mate whose a fair bit older than me - he's a black dude and has loads of the same manerisms. Even my bro said he looks just like your mate!

Was lucky enough to be based in London a few years ago for a Daptone tour - saw him and Sharon Jones at the Barbican. I then saw him on his own at a small gig in Camden (or Kilburn) - I was a bit fucked up after the Libya gig so can't really remember. He was Belting. Top top singers the pair of them - his first LP is a must - and all of her's are to be honest.  All the trendy arsholes who stayed on the concourse at the Barbican drinking over-priced pop as Bradley 'warmed-up' in front of an almost empty arena for Sharon Jones should have had their arses well and truly kicked.

I saw him the last time he was here at the Band On The Wall in Manchester.  Best show I've ever been to.

Met him afterwards too and I can verify that he's one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet.

Totally chuffed to bits for him and he deserves his success.

I seen him last week speaking on Breakfast T.V ....!!!....Once I heard his VOICE I was hooked....!!!....I have recorded  BBC 4 documentary last night & looking forward to watching it after seeing all the comments ....& will definately be going to watch him when he performs in Manchester in Oct :-)

What a lovely fella :)

Hope he gets the commercial success and recognition his talent deserves

Knocks spots off most of the rubbish which they produce today, masquerading as music!

Just watched docu. Very moving.

Got koko tickets booked but gonna go to Brum too, nice intimate venue.

Watched it on catch up in bed last night - what I did notice (and I will have to watch it again to make sure) but I'm sure Charles spoke only in record titles for the first 20 minutes.

being a late bloomer he needs the PR so if true, good on him. maybe more a case though that that is simply his life.

great film and proper non contrived music.i hope it charts.

We just seen Charles Bradley at the Empire in Belfast yesterday.  Fantastic concert and performance!  His voice and stage performance is amazing and same goes for the tight backing band.  best spent £16 ever!  If you get the chance do not miss it.  Seen a few soul acts over the years of mixed quality.  Some of them had not performed for many years before starting singing again.   Charles Bradley has and still is a hard working musician and still so bloody good.  Both lp's have cracking tunes that sound even better live.  Still on a high!  Backing played an instrumental of Major IV Down in the ghetto which added to the coolness.

Favourite track for me of the night "Why is it so hard"  and Jo's "Lovin you baby"   but all songs were amazing.  Five

Sold out last week, Brum, Manchester and Leeds. Gutted :(

The man is a class act and I for one will be doing my best to get to see him whilst he's on these shores. The Film 'S.O.A' is moving and uplifting at the same time and if you havent seen it yet download it from iTunes because Charles deserves to be seen by a bigger audience and appreciated for the talent he is. The whole Daptone setup really impressed me and hats off to them for bringing us Charles - a true soul man!

Both Dublin and Belfast were packed houses as well.  Reckon he will be back by popular demand next year again hopefully

"I'm tired, of this city life...."

Bring it on ! I Love Charles B !!

Saw him in Belfast last Friday night - what a show .

This is a truly humble guy who just seems overjoyed to be on the stage with people loving him , he seemed to enjoy himself as much as the crowd .

He jumped off the stage into the crowd at the end and did a lap of honour with everyone hugging him .

Charles is the man !

Brummies where is the hare and hounds tia.

Kings Heath on the A435. If you're in Birmingham head out to Mosely and just carry on a bit till it becomes Kings Heath, it;s there. I'm pissed off as my young 'un is having a birthday sleep over on Friday with some of his pals at our house so I won't be able to make it. :(

Saw him last weekend in Glasgow, "The Screaming Eagle of Soul" was on top form - really good gig. Must admit to welling up at the film too on more than one occassion

He was excellent at a sold out Wardrobe in Leeds. They wouldn't let me take my camera in but I did sneak the cam corder in.

Not as good as Lee Fields but he is very good.

It was a great show at KoKo in London on Wednesday. Some great dirty dad dancing from Charles and good funky numbers but for me when he drops it down for a ballad he's at his best 'lovin you baby' was sublime.

Low points were idiots who couldn't shut up talking during the quieter songs but what can you do !?!

Decent review here of the Brighton gig. Love the idea of the longhairs wheeling out a Theramin for Confusion - great track off the album which I would love to hear live.

I'd forgotten about the theremin solo !! It was actually very good and really worked with the song !

Longhairs getting it right there !
