Somebody challenged me on another NS site to post the fastest dance music, played at All-Nighters. So I hit the send button and learned a bit, Limited to 4 though. Just wondered if any DJ would dare to back-to-back these bastards. Of course, you record collectors would have to take your cardigans off first ! .

Stompers: Bobby Freeman - C'mon and Swim - Pye. Alder Ray - My Heart is in Danger - Minit. Combinations - What Cha Gonna Do - Kelmac.  Tommy Sears - Get Out - Chalet.

The hustlers,goodbye on fascination records,its a stormer

Lee Vowles managed to clear the floor of the elderly and infirm with this the other week -  stomped it through to the end with a couple of mates but I was seeing a red mist by the last 20 seconds

Lee's laughing - he said I should have posted this

danced to it all the time when he was 17 - and he wasn't doing the Care in The Community Glide either

There's always two that spring to mind, probably because  they're both on Date and I acquired them around the same time.  To my knowledge they were played out but were long forgotten by the time I got my hands on them.

Herb Fame "your'e messing up my mind"

Mister Jim "Carnival"

Not played Mister Jim for years.  It is a mad instrumental with a surprisingly good and more slower in tempo flipside, which is not saying much; an instrumental  of Mrs Robinson, as in Simon and Garfunkel.    Not that you play it anywhere other than a hardcore easy listening night.

Herb Fame is just too fast, and doesn't quite work even if I was 15.

Oh and the Vibrations "Keep on keeping on" on Okeh.  Ridiculously fast.  I guess this is why these records are long forgotten!

Mind you I love the Dells "there is", "wear it on your face" or and Lenny Welch "you can't runaway" on mercury.

Regards

Alan

The Radiants: "Hold on" made me fall over when I was 16. I wouldn't want to try dancing to it now

Hi Mick, Soul Set, what a tune.... it's in my top 10 all time best.... what Northern's all about

And mine but I must be bad at maths because I have 763 in my top 10

Don't like it, much prefer the gorgeously slow and soulful flip

But it's f**kin' fast

Go on then, name em', were all waiting

I feel daft now cuz everyone is watching so I will start with the one and only top sound and finish with No 763.

HAYES COTTON - BLACK WINGS HAVE MY ANGEL

Come on chaps, read the whole thread, Towanda Barnes has been mentioned 3 times now, others twice...

I agree with Kev H - gotta be The Vanguards - The Thought Of Losing Your Love. I can't think of anything I've heard that's faster..
