Happy New Year everyone. I hope your Yuletide and New Year celebrations have been plentiful and that the year ahead offers you good health, prosperity, happiness and endless photo opportunities.

To kickstart the new edition of the fabulous "Show us your great photos" thread, I offer not a pic but a video. We took this last night and it shows, in all its glory, the incredible firework display we offered our neighbours from the comfort of our balcony. If you watch the video you'll see our neighbours' fantastic fireworks going off in the background - and then there's ours. :(

This is what you get when you buy a box of mini fireworks from your local cheapskate supermarket (Albert Heijn) for the princely sum of 10 euros!  Still, it was so crap it was a laugh, which means it actually offered great value for money. I hope the vid of our box of damp balcony squibs also raises a smile with you.

Happy New Year!

It was over an inch long Steve, but ugly as sin, I'm sure I have a book somewhere, I'll have to delve deep.

A trip to the pancake house in the Amsterdam woods on a sunny day is always a favourite thing to do. Always great to see a peacock in full display. The one here was quite happy to show off for a good three or four minutes. These pics were taken with my iPhone.

That's an awesome set up!

Two from Snowdonia. The first, part of the disused Rhossydd. Slate Quarry, the second, a panoramic of a distant Snowdon, the pointy "Welsh Matterhorn" - Cnicht & the Moelwyns. The third is of the Newlands Valley, carved out by a Glacier, in the Lake District58ebdf278462a_P1010516(2).thumb.JPG.9beaa74f982c15f37e777ee5b77f08c0.JPG20170402_173552.thumb.jpg.e152a53e6f6c824241342310ac8bd789.jpgP1010366.thumb.JPG.6701fee0014eeb11ecc0d90fa61be639.JPG

Dicentra spectabilis, the white one has alba added on the end, it's relatively easy for me to remember them, I read Stern's Botanical Latin when I was 10.

Fabulous Steve. I've never seen that either - and I've seen lots of swans over the years.

Hope you're in fine fettle Sir.

I'm ok thanks Steve

I dont have any pictures but my hedgehogs have returned this week. Well, as they're quite nomadic they may be a different family, but I like to think they're the ones I feed regularly. I was expecting them back from hibernation a little sooner, but I'm very honoured and pleased to have them visiting nightly again.

All the best mate.

Glad to hear that your hog family have returned safe from hibernation my friend. Think its time after all these years of thinking about getting a camera that you actually go and get one mate. Hedgehog picture we all await

Haven't been out with the camera for a bit, but had a good day at West Kirby beach yesterday when my daughter and her friend hit the sands . If I could ride a horse this is how I would like to do it!

I was watching television last night and I found out the name of the ugly beetle. It's called a Sam Allardyce.

The lovely Wood Stitchwort has appeared down my favourite woods.  Early as usually appears in May 20170412_165329.thumb.jpg.dcd844743f2ac9acb31c71c29714ae12.jpg

These are covering the woodland floor, Dog Violets, a carpet of yellow and white. Moschatel/Town Hall Clock flowers. We have at least 12 types of flower out down there.  I counted 30 types of wildflower by May last year 20170409_141555.thumb.jpg.84e0d732bcff8285bc2bdb5aba71da52.jpg  Lesser Celandines and Wood Anemones20170402_184309.thumb.jpg.c57cf21f83fcc6b2e5874770257779f0.jpg20170409_130117.thumb.jpg.a79e095929d29ab079877bebb6d312e6.jpg

There appears to be a problem with the format of your posts?

That's just what the site threw up Peter , I was only using the "Quote" button not posting pics ... ?

seems ok here

if having problems then the best bet may be not to quote images in the future

though not sure why you felt those comments on 'old images ' in such a tone/manner was needed

if you do have concerns on any posts on here then it always work better  if you flag them up in future

cheers

Not quite. It's a fairground ride and I photo shopped the carousel 🎠 off.

Cough cough.....it's a garlic bread. Sort of.... One half is garlic bread. Actually so is the other, except it has tomatoes squidged on it. Or in other words, a yeasted flat artisan bread, lightly spread with churned and salted organic butter, seasoned with bulb of garlic and shards of parsley herb, served with a partial vine ripened tomato jus. :sleep3:
