A new year and a new photo thread to keep us entertained through the months ahead.

My first addition is something suitably seasonal - a wintery scene taken in the Amsterdam woods.

DSC_1212-web.jpg.403007fb2d1c4c9deefe4ade26a6e734.jpg

All contributions very much welcomed, and if the photos we've seen in previous years is anything to go by, we've a lot to look forward to.

Enjoy!

Very wet Badger. Taken in last nights storm. When its windy badgers are really wary because there eyesight is rubbish and they rely on the senses of smell and hearing and with the wind rustling everything they become extra wary so once again I,m happy  with the picture

Great shot. Our next door neighbour had a family of foxes under his shed early on this year and we used to watch them play in the garden. Great stuff. We used to leave scaps of food out. As you can hear we got a tad excited 🙂

Great pictures Andy. 👍

Were there any fishing boats landing sea food? I love anything edible, fresh from the sea.

You get around a fair bit, thanks for sharing your travels with us.

Thanks Pete

I didn't see any boats landing their catch, we weren't there that long really. A flying visit to see my lad who is working down there. Trying to get around as much as possible these days before it's too late :-). Still getting out to local soul nites as and when tho 👍

Fabulous m8 it really is 👍 baz

Yes, I took it and fortunately backed it as well. If you only have one winner on Derby Day it might as well be a 16/1 Derby winner.

I wonder if it is related to Northern Dancer???

Just been on holiday to North Norfolk and was lucky enough to capture these newly fledged Chiffchaffs waiting to be fed . They were in a low bush next to my caravan and kept coming back to the same small branch over 3 days.

These scoots were on display in the main cathedral square, the silver Vespa, could not make my mind up, sportique ?  No tool box, and no badge I’m afraid, early one...

the others were just PKs and a T5 over the way, actually that could be.a PX in the foreground, but I don’t recognise the nose cowling... looks pk......

god we all hated T5s when they came out bet they are collectible now

Here are a few from our annual trip to Menorca,First 2 are of both sides of the same cove,we parked at Calla Galdana and walked for an hour on the Cammi De Caval to Cala De La Maceralletta.

The other 2 are whilst out searching for tortoises at Es Canutells also on the Cami.

The wild flowers were stunning once more, they must have had a fair bit of rain and the natural rock garden at the bottom of the wall just caught my eye.

Out with the camera for the first time in way too long. Cycled to the Amsterdam woods and a little nature reserve there called Vogeleiland (Bird island), although it's actually much better for wild flowers than it is birds. Great to be out on a photographic excursion again. Must get back in the habit of doing it more regularly.

This windmill isn't actually in the woods, but is on the way home if I go a certain route. It's one of three restored windmills in the area in which I live. This one's called De Zwarte Ruiter, which in English is the black rider...

More shots from Santiago de Compestella... fabulous city, but I’m now ready to move on, think my legs are wondering why there isn’t so much walking!

I know less than most Rob, and I live here, in my defence it is like an enclave of most European countries here, and the average age is higher than mine.

Mark.  It's visible from Thelwall viaduct.  I've been in Llandudno all  day and returning this evening I could smell the fire from nr Eccles and around Blackley it's slightly foggy with the strong smell of smoke and there's a fall of ash on my garden furniture. By the way I live about 10 miles from where the fire actually is Will.... try and post a picture of the foggy area

Penlee Lifeboat - an act of incredible bravery that ended in catastrophic tragedy.  I worked for thew RNLI in the 90's - a mere fundraising manager. I did have the privilege of going out on a number of rescues on different all weather class boats. Not many people know that the weather conditions can be so bad that regular crew members get sea sick and succumb to hypothermia.

Was looking at the moon last night but not as red as that. The fires are bad, both for people and animals and I fear it could go on for some time with no rain in the forecast. You can get a wiff of the smoke down here in Sale now and again and also see the smog hanging over the moors. Light ash fall in Manchester city center as well

Andy. The smoke and ash seems to be blowing inbetween here and South Manchester and with the moon further south again would probably explain the difference in colour.  Does that sound logical  ? It's been overcast and stinking of smoke here all day. Yet where Lou works just a few miles north of here she's been in brilliant sunshine all day. The wind has changed direction late afternoon so we now have the blue sky

I believe Winter Hill is on fire now.

Was out on the bike last night and was looking over that way thinking it looked a bit cloudy/smokey. Winter Hill is on the right above the flat hedge
