Alongside The Edge Of Daybreak, was there many other prison groups or soul/funk songs cut from behind the bars??

There is a really nice sweet soul 45 with a red label just need to remember what it is...

And his group, The Prisonaires, had many songs released by Sam Phillips' Sun Records during the early 1950s.  Also, Syng Macgowan had several Soul songs released during the mid 1960s on a small Baltimore label.  They had groups backing him up.

Hiya chalky, thanks. Never read that before. I guess someone told me info when it was getting played after being uncovered. Easy mistake with the jail link (youth club).  Cheers

This thread reminded me I had this cd given to me some time ago lying somewhere in the house, not sure I have ever played it,

Although Syng recorded this after being released he was sadly soon incarcerated again and that ended his career

He was lead on this with long term prisoners
