JM is quoting half price sale on all listed records , what’s your thoughts?
Are they overpriced to start or am I being cynical

Reading all the comment about I can understand the frustration regarding having funds tied up due to delays in receiving the items. This is what I know 1st hand from what I have personally witnessed.

As Woodbutcher states probably thinking why bother, especially if he is bombarded with emails and phone calls about deliveries not received after less than a week.

think the only problems really would come from discogs where the seller only has so long to update or at least to keep buyers in the loop... soul people are in the main not the most patient of people so he probably need a body keeping their eye solely on that site

Too easy to cut some slack when sat at a keyboard.

I ordered some almost two weeks ago, they will get to me some time soon.

Thats what I was trying to say, my post was in defence of John.

I hope my posts were not seen as a criticism of John or moaning , I did say I wasn't expecting to hear anything for the next couple of days,I was just looking for a bit of clarity ,were people in the same situation as myself regarding buying from his Discogs site. I appreciate his staff must be under pressure with the various conditions working against them, the weather,  number of orders etc.

Like Chalky I'm sure all will be well with patience.

I ordered one from his Discogs site because I couldn't find the record that I wanted on his own site on Monday night, and it arrived yesterday morning. However I paid for Special Delivery so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

What really surprised me was I was messaging him questions really late at night and he was answering my messages

The Royal Mail will probably having problems with the weather too and staffing levels will probably be down with the Christmas temps probably laid off, so that is something to factor in too , I am sure the parcels will be on their way.

Just had notification my order from Discogs last Saturday is on its way and refund sent. To anyone who ordered at a similar time they are getting through any backlog just be patient 👍

Made my discogs order on December 28th and haven’t heard a peep.  Makes me wonder if they are really doing them in order 🫤

I ordered from the website on boxing day and it arrived this morning.  They're probably trying to deal with a significant amount of order volume.

I’ve asked him today and he says by date order.

Can’t be doing them in chronological order, my order was on 26th and I’ve not heard anything.

I'm sure he had nothing better to do on Boxing Day ...

Bit of a stupid comment really. He is just saying that people are receiving their orders earlier than him.Im in the same boat. Dont tell me that 5 days of posting is all from the 26th.In hindsight im sure John will think he started the sale a tad early.

He's been inundated with unprecedented numbers of orders from all directions , from a half-price bonanza started over the holiday period , in the middle of the coldest winter snap for over a decade , I suspect John's not like the Post Office drafting in an army of minions to cover the extra workload so it's hardly surprising that orders are taking time to process.

You'll just have to be patient and accept that although you can complete your order with a click of a mouse it's not like you're dealing with a robotic Amazon-like service , 45s have to be found amongst the 100,000 or so on the shelves , packed securely , labelled up , and given to the postie en mass , and then they have to rush around in appalling weather etc , etc , etc.

Last comment on this.I know about the winter snap my boilers deceased.Freezing my nuts off.

Look up Chronological! 😂

the sale is probably going better than he thought it would and maybe with hindsight he would have started it January 1st

if he had given all his staff time off during the holidays

I have a question  tho.. Is it all down to individual settings or does everyone's orders on discogs go straight to checkout so they can pay immediately

If you want it next day pay for next day delivery.

Makes me laugh when people say I've been looking for a copy of a record for years then moan about it taking a few extra days to get there

Mine when straight to payment and discogs changed the status to payment received

After getting it for half-price ....

I never said he should have been working on Boxing Day, just making an observation that if people are receiving orders placed after the 26th then obviously it’s not strictly working in chronological order. Have a happy New Year.

@Louise poor our Trev we need to send him some jumpers!

I believe it was December 26th or right around then.

Placed order 26th and paid instantly via website.

Today, 19 days later, got an e-mail that ordered and paid for record is out of stock and refund is on its way.

Anyone know why or how out of stock items are listed on the site for purchase?  Starting to worry my orders might not get filled too.

This is basically the problem I have with ordering off JM… maybe I’m just unlucky but had quite a few orders cancelled outright over the years because the item was either out of stock or couldn’t be found (possibly misfiled) and one with multiple items had one record refunded because it couldn’t be located.

Now before anyone gets over excited I’m not slagging the guy off just saying how it is for me. I’m sure there are punters on here who have been dealing with John Manship for decades and rarely if ever had a problem. Unfortunately I have and not had this issue with other dealers on this level (just the occasional cock up which unfortunately will always happen now and again).

I’ve placed a couple of orders with him during this sales window as there were some great bargains. Not received either order yet and doubt I will get all the items ordered but not too fussed. I knew he would be overwhelmed so wasn’t expecting the records to be posted out straight away. Sure the majority will arrive in the not too distant future and any that can’t be found will be sourced elsewhere. Overall despite some problems now and again I always find John Manship worth dealing with.

Ordered on 27th December and its still showing as processing, starting to get a bit cheesed off as its coming up to 3 weeks now. Yes I know there was the new year and weather problems but if he's doing them chronologically  there can't have been that many before me can there? Plus Ive paid for special delivery which should minimise any delays from the Royal Mail side of things

I imagine by the lack of auction items that the poor chap is up against it? maybe he didn’t expect the sale to be so popular? Either way, I’ve never had any kind of negative experience from Manships.

first order made on the 26th, made a few since then but not seen or heard anything. Not sure about this chronological thing, if they're still working through the orders from the first day of the sale then the response really must have been unprecedented indeed!

My discogs order from the 28th just got cancelled and refund sent 😐

So order one from 27th on its way. 18/20. 2 main records I wanted out of stock. Will give my full opinion when I know about second order from 31st.It ain’t gonna be pretty though. It will be after I’ve Discogged him and emailed him.😒

I have another order from the JM website on December 30th.  Hopefully I get the full order and not just the couple records I tacked on to my true wants. Has anyone here had JM website orders cancelled due to being out of stock, or is it just the discogs site?

Seems like quite a long time to discover that something's out of stock

I guess I won’t get my hopes up then 🙄

someone there is finding the time to upload loads of eg 5 quid Billy Idol singles to discogs every day, while customers are waiting for orders I imagine to be in the thousands of pounds dating back 3 weeks

anybody put an order in on 28th dec from the site and received it yet ?.

I ordered on the 28th and records haven’t been processed yet, I phoned earlier this week and they said that there had been over 2,000 sales. Need more staff I think .

Everyone has to dig deep and be patient.. i`m sure we`ll all get our records or be refunded. i held back and ordered one record on the 6th jan so dont expect to hear anything just yet but lets just see what happens

If folks had gone through JM's main site & not discogs you would find if their said record is in stock & available

This is a direct ,Discogs 3rd party site & won't be up to date on orders of said records !
