I suppose all venue,s will have something different Kev, it was after all the 1st one, must admit considering it was supposed to have a £1M sound system the sound was awfull on a number of occaisions, then again with every DJ being a knob twiddler what do you expect :D:D

Think next years will be 10 times better, always room for improvement mate

Ian.

:lol:not every DJ is a knob twiddler sum knows to leave the knobs alone and let others twiddle them just right lol ....them that did twiddle as you say got a right nasty sounding earful :D (not least off the sound crew  )

back home today, having cheated the man upstairs had some angio plasty with somemore to follow in a few months time. thanks to all for the kind messages and crank calls to the CMU at Hull Royal... yes Kev you were one of them :shades:

ok nuff said

Right The Spa .. all in all from my point of view and the rest of the crew we knew we had a big plate to step upto after 07 at the 3bs. and i think in the most we pulled it off to everybodies satisfaction with the feedback we have received.

sound system fooking awesome but with a little disadvantage of not being able to control 100% after being set up this in the main was caused by a few knob twiddlers had they left alone it would have been fine............. BUT thats already been sorted for next year

Aircon a few small probs here but due to a few pc control probs and newness it was a real prob Fri night and they just about got to grips with it sat night so theres another one sorted

Music wise O/a a good spread over the weekend but for the few gripes and i mean few a rare room was provided along with a modern room. lets not forget were we all started

security and Spa staff tip top from start to finish if anyone knows otherwise please advise

and to finish off we listen to all comments and act on them if and where possible

Blue Bell wood did great out of it too more on that later

Many thanks for your support

Great weekend for us, fabulous venue, - makes a refreshing change from some of the dives we frequent

Spent most of our time flitting between the modern and rare rooms, highlights in both rooms but unfair to single any of the jocks out as the music was superb and all did fantastic spots,

Glad Rob W on the mend.

The organising team did a fantastic job - well done all concerned.

Funniest bit for me was the event programme brochure photo's - never realised that Yocky bloke was a midget  (see your programme)

his legs are so short he has turn-ups on his underpants - but youve all seen them anyway - aint ya!

Crackerjack of a weekend - well be back next year

We have about 50 copies of the programme left, if anyone would like one A4 size,20 glossy pages with articles about the yorkshire scene and other features it makes a good read.

we sold the spares off for Bluebell Wood Childrens hospice, so if you want one send a donation of minium £3 in a cheque (inc P&P) or (can take payment by Pay Pal) cheques made payable to "Bluebell Wood" and it will help raise more cash for them.

send to our PO Box address below.

was asked for some playlists from the rare/underplayed room, so as several of the Djs are on here as members they will be posting soon.

I can confirm the DJ that played Wayne Gibson "Under my thumb" was myself and I shall be giving myself a serious talking to laugh.gif i was actually bribed to play it with a £5 donation into the bucket for Bluebell Wood "Your honour" thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it, well when was the last time you heard it played anywhere ?

its all down to available dates for 3 FULL days at the venue when originally booked, as posted before. We looked at end of April , however Bridlington have hosted a major darts event over several weekends throughout the season. Next available date was 2nd week in June (Cleethorpes ) and then first week in July (SAME weekend as Whitby) so as nothing major was on then thats where it went.

However we feel as Whitby is running twice a year July & October anyone who wanted could have tried both venues, the DJs are totally different and we are offering "Something new to do".

As promoters we are aware that money's tight, petrol dear and people want value for money.

We have capped our ticket price at £20 for the time being, despite rising costs, to enable people to get to Bridlington to give it a go and see if they like it.

With various grades of B&Bs, caravans etc you can do Bridlington fairly cheaply.

WE HAVE NO INTENTION OF RUNNING TWO WEEKENDERS A YEAR AT THIS VENUE, we want to keep it special so people look forward to coming.

Advance Ticket sales for 2009, 26th, 27th, 28th June are approaching 500 already, we are again in 3 rooms next year, Totally Northern Soul, Modern/ Crossover Soul and the much talked about rare/underplayed room. We are watching ticket sales and have the availability to add more rooms into the mix ! watch this space ! :)

All we can say is if you'd like to try Bridlington you are more than welcome and your tickets will be just £20 each for the full weekend. :D

quite fancy Brid missen (especially the rare room, how big is this room btw) but what exactly is something new to do? I asked this question on KTF long time ago ("being the antidote" was also quoted) and never got an answer. But the Northern Room looks the same as any Northern Room.

I would say "something new to do," could mean "somewhere new to go" (sounds like you're nit-picking over words slightly).

Doesn't matter what anyone says - this weekender is excellent value for money. :D

Bridlington is cheap for food and drink, unlike Whitby where it's just cost an arm and a leg for the same thing :Dsad.gif .

Plus, I've heard tickets for the next Whitby are going up in price yet again.

biggrin.giflast year in the 3bs we played right across the board in one room, from £10k rarities c/o Mr parker to £2 70s C/o me :D and it worked well.

On moving to The Spa with the LARGEST DANCE FLOOR IN EUROPE  Its got to be a mix that keeps the floor going as per any large venue.

However we hit the Jackpot with the 2 side rooms 250 & 300 capacity venues and they were rocking beyond belief both nights showing there is a demand for this type of room.

remember when they opened The Winding Wheel Chalky and it was all "new", well imagine something 5 or 6 times as big and done to perfection and you'll see where we are coming from.

Anyway thy is a Yorkshire lad, so its a Yorkshire weekender-and in a town with no Northern "History"--we are putting that right !

Have PM'd you as well :D

Playlist from the "3rd (rare, chilled and underplayed) room" asked for.... no real recollection of what played when so here's a list (alphabetically :D ) of what was played over three sessions.... Friday 1.00am-2.00am, Saturday 2.30pm-3.30pm and Sunday 2.00pm-3.00pm....

To say this room was envisaged as more of a "chill out" room as one of the bars was in it where people could come and sit away from the main room, it certainly had its fair share of dancers especially on both the evening sessions.... the fact people were coming to the bar to get their drinks quicker than in the main room at busy times meant quite a few deciding to stay in having a "listen" to what was being played, then deciding to come back each session to sit and listen some more, and so it developed a crowd of its own over the weekend....

The Sunday session wasn't planned but due to requests it opened up from 2.00pm until about 8.00pm (I believe).... had to leave Sunday at about 5.00pm as "my driver" was due on night shift at 11.00pm :D ....

Chalks.

The rare room is/was or still is the Chill room, it is the size of or bigger than most backrooms in pubs. in many ways they have the fell of Ponds sheff

The rest can be left to each persons take on it, a bit like other names for venues i spose.... i reckon Rob sums it up in his reply

Little Esther Phillips - While It Lasted (Lenox)

Deena Johnson - The Breaking Point (Wild Deuce)

Barbara Cooper - What's One More Tear (RCA)

Jackie Shane - Comin' Down (Sue)

John Gary Williams - The Whole Damn World Is Going Crazy (Stax)

Several tracks were played twice due to requests and I feel sure there were others, I'll edit if I remember. It was a brilliant experience although I'll admit to being very tired on the Sunday, which is perhaps reflected in the titles of the last 5 sounds!

Think I mentioned over the mic (about 300 times!) That I now live in East Kent and we have our own do this weekend, details are here:

Drop by and I'll buy you a pint!

Best,

John.

biggrin.giflast year in the 3bs we played right across the board in one room, from £10k rarities c/o Mr parker to £2 70s C/o me :D and it worked well.

Rob

sounds a cracking venue Rob. Winding Wheel best venue I've ever been in and it's still the same condition (new I mean as it's listed and have to maintain it properly) so this place sounds fantastic. Hopefully I can make it next year if dates don't clash with Lifeline.

Chalks.

The rare room is/was or still is the Chill room, it is the size of or bigger than most backrooms in pubs. in many ways they have the fell of Ponds sheff

The rest can be left to each persons take on it, a bit like other names for venues i spose.... i reckon Rob sums it up in his reply

Rob

ey up pal, hope your feeling better.

Thanks for that. I heard nothing but good about this room, especially Joihn Parker and Tony Hatfield's sets.

You take it easy thumbsup.gif

Rob

Just got my PC back in working order SO HERE GOES

Nice talking to you on friday Rob glad to see your up and doing well!!! was very shocked when i heard what had happened!! as to say glad your back up and about.

A great touch was the meeting and greeting yourself Rob and Karen did an absolute sparkling job, the Venue is IMHO one of the best ive ever been to a fantastic ballroom with little nooks and crannies here and there.

Fantastic sound and light system, i know there were one or two hiccups but hey who cares, when your having a ball.

Had a laugh with Martyn, Lynn and the rest of the Hull crew, plus great to have a good York turn out for this event, i bet theres even more Yorkies there next year.

Really enjoyed the chill out room, which turned out to be something a bit special with Mick and Mo, Mark Ethridge, John Alden, Glyn Sissons all playing great sets.

It was also very nice to give people a taste of what John Parker and Myself are striving to do over at York Rugby Club. You can find us on www.yorksoulclub.com

Tracy said at One Point when the room was packed out, her best description was look its bloody MEERKAT CORNER around the bar area with people asking WHATS ALL THIS!!! :D and replies  Something DIFFERENT to do!!

Any how ventured from this room on occasions for the WC, but not too often as afraid of missing another good tune.

Anyhow heres a brief list of what i played over the 3 sessions, just an approximation as icant remember all of them. In no particular order.
