Johnny Sayles - I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love does it for me every time.

Brilliant choice -- my choice till I settled on Bobby Freeman. Are these guitar players related?

Seven Souls - I Still Love You

Brings shivers down my spine everytime,

especially if a certain girl I know is on the dance floor unsure.gif

marching on together

Great song with a great drum intro took me a lot of years of being outbid to get one of these,

But my answers would be something like

Temptations

"I Wish it Would Rain"

And Four Tops

"Ask The Lonely"

Ritchie Barrett - some other guy. Two guitar notes and then it all happens, rnb, jamaican backbeat, all blended, what's not to like? A track that happens somewhere in the mid atlantic. Cracking.

The bonkers everything but the kitchen sink style intro is one thing...

On a minimalist tip please consider the simple but sublime intro that is:

I Get The Sweetest Feeling - Jackie Wilson

Instantly recognisable - tells you everything you need to know and all in about ten seconds.

Job Done. Get in there. Or that type of thing...

Soul Bros Inc - Pyramid.

It's simplicity is it's charm. A good scene setter intro.

Lou Rawls.. Dead end street  ..

Good choice.

Lou does pack an awful lot of information into his intro. I'm sure he mentions what colour underpants he is wearing and what he had for tea the night before. :D
