Alison H
Well after nearly knocking down a cowboy (honest, ask Eric) we finally made it to the non-line dancing venue (Paul I know you told us it was the 2nd club on Leicester St but we never listen do we ?). Anyway once at the correct venue, which was only a hop, skip & a jump away from the High Chapparral we were given instructions by the club steward that OUR room was round the side of the building and down the second set of stairs so we headed for this Beirut style metal door only to be greeted inside with this hidden gem of a room that was just perfect What a top secret place !! The night was a joy from start to finish. The music superb throughout from ALL the d.j's. I do need to thank Carms especially for breaking that funky beat and making me change my slippey slidey moves to something a bit ruder An excellent first night at this new venue. You deserve this success Paul so well done I'm looking forward to many more nights here Yee-ha!!! Link to comment
Anais nin Carms
We loved the night it was sheer pleasure all the way , fantastic , the BEST , sounds played that you would nornally have to go to a nighter for , all mixed tempo's and genres , just how a good soul night should be in my opion. We felt we were in such good company and felt so priveledged to have played on an opening night for a club that is just going to go from strength to strength. Have to applaude Paul for giving us so much encouragement to just play what we wanted and not fear an empty floor. I will blog it later to do it full justice. soul45s
Well im still walking on air! After all the drama of the past few months, other people cancelling my event bookings and recent double bookings I wasn't sure how the night would go... When Rosemary and I went to prepare the venue yesterday afternoon the club stewardess mentioned that a guy had been in the venue earlier this week and wanted to hire the function room to hold Rare Soul events every month!! I thought WTF....not again! So I was well chuffed to see so many people attend the first night at the new venue, everyone seemed to be enjoying it, smiling happy faces, great quality music from every DJ, a superb selection of vinyl played from dirt cheapies to four figure rarities, a fantastic atmosphere and the time really did fly by! This venue really is just so right for a Soul event, it ticks all the boxes plus has a dirt cheap bar, only £2.20 a pint! Thanks again to everyone involved in making the night so special, hope to squeeze a few more in at the next event Friday 9th April. I'll add some pics to the gallery soon cheers paul Link to comment

Pudsoul
What a brilliant soul night. Dark, bit rough round the edges, honest venue. Knowledgeable but open minded dancers. Friendly fellow soulies. Broad minded quality DJs. Cheap bar. Could we ask for any more? I was dead on my feet when I got there, having just finished two extremely long and hard days at work. I only got home from running about at 7.10 that night, before heading out the door to Bradford less than an hour later. I thought to myself "I'll just sit and enjoy the tunes", but then Mark puts on the Soul Gents, and my feet couldn't keep off the dance floor. And it just stayed like that all night! For me, and I know it's just a matter of taste, Mick H's spot was the most fabulous. All the djs played fantastic sets, but Mick's mix of superb latin, R&B, uptempo top quality 6ts soul, and magic midtempo was for me the best. Have I heard anyone play Wallace Johnson before? I don't know, but it blew me away. Cheers Paul, another high class soul night, and I can't wait for the next one. David Link to comment
