Anyone know?

How many of the Tavares will be at Prestatyn? I understand that two left, Ralf in 1884 and Tiny 1995 (ish) but Tiny did return. Also will they have a live band?

Looking like another great week-end.

Tavares were originally 5 brothers - they are now down to a 4 piece - all original members.

They will be performing with a top class live band (the same band we have used previously for the Ann Nesby, Phil Perry, Adriana Evans etc concerts) - they are the absolute business : - ))

Great news. Saw them live in 1978/79 (Chester) along with Gonzalez (haven't stopped dancing yet written by Gloria Jones(?)). Be fantastic to see them live again over 30 years later!! Agree with your comments about the band.

This guy is just so busy at the moment - touring worldwide with Sade, recording and performing with Incognito etc etc.

But as with anything, good things come to those who wait, so I'm delighted to be able to announce that this fella -

TONY MOMRELLE is an R&B and soul singer and songwriter, one of the most exciting and significant musicians on modern British stage.

Tony started studying music when he was just eight years old. He was lucky to grow up in the church learning to sing gospel. Tony started rapping at the age of 13 and got into a hip hop band. When he was 18 he started getting into professional singing and song writing which also meant doing backing vocals for various artists and vocal producing.

All of these lead Tony to tour with some of the greatest artists in the world such as ELTON JOHN, GLORIA ESTEFAN, CELINE DION, JANET JACKSON, SADE, TAKE THAT, GARY BARLOW, ADNREA BOCELLI, GWEN STEFANI, GABRIELLE, ROBERT PALMER, BEAUTIFUL SOUTH , Gospel music group SEVEN and so on - way too many to mention!..

His success in the touring event impressed INCOGNITO's frontman, BLUEY MAUNICK and thus, offered him the job as the lead male vocalist of the famous British Acid-jazz band where he resides for 6 years. Before his stint in the world renowned INCOGNITO Tony was already solo recording artist who has released two studio albums under his name.

Music critics such as John Rockwell and Paul Morley consider Momrelle as the new Stevie Wonder of the 21st century because of his similarity to the music legend's vocal vibe. While on tour with INCOGNITO in Japan Tony got a suprise phone call from STEVIE WONDER to say he loved his voice and was a fan of the band.

Through the years Tony contributed on many albums, some of those are SADE's "LOVERS LIVE", INCOGNITO's "LIFE STRANGER THAN FICTION", "ELEVEN", "BEES + THINGS + FLOWERS" and "ADVENTURES IN BLACK SUNSHINE", TERRY CALLIER's "SPEAK YOUR PEACE" and "TOTAL RECALL", AARON CARTER'S "MOST REQUESTED HITS" and "ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE", SKI OAKENFULL's "RISING SON" etc...

Been away for a while but have seen the Cat is out of the Bag with Tim Browns new book on Wigan Casino

I know that he is hoping to launch the book at Legends Weekender in October and we have discussed Tim doing a special set on the Saturday Night to reflect the content and occasion of the books launch

I am sure it will make very interesting reading and an Ideal Christmas present and I'm sure if you twist his arm the author will be on hand to sign your copy

It's now only just around the corner, so it's with great anticipation we look forward to the next Prestatyn Legends Weekender taking place next month - Thursday 14th to Monday 18th October.

And for those that like their 'Modern Soul' we have another mouth watering event lined up for you. With LIVE performances on the Friday night from THE TAVARES who are still made of 4 of the original 5 brothers who took the soul scene by storm in a wave of disco fever in the mid to late 70's. As a group however beside the well known chart topping hits, they made some seriously good music in the latter part of the 70's and into the early eighties with terrific albums for Capitol Records during that period.

In addition to this - Saturday evening see's TONY MOMRELLE grace the stage in the 'WITHOUT BOUNDARIES' arena complete with his own band. Recent years have seen Mr Momrelle front vocals for INCOGNITO as the male lead of the group, as well as a hectic worldwide touring schedule with SADE, plus recording tracks for his own soon come solo project when time allows him to ! Compared favourably to a young STEVIE WONDER vocally in his prime (with Stevie a big fan himself). The future looks very rosy indeed for one of the finest vocalists to have ever surfaced here in the UK.

Dj wise we've added youngster and new kid on the block !! : - ) COLIN CURTIS to the 'Modern Soul' line-up after his well received debut at the March event. Autumn, season of mists and mellow soulfulness!

As the days grow shorter and the Summer slips slowly away, Mark Fletcher looks forward to this Autumns bounty, the 6th Legends of Motown Soul Weekender.

LEGENDS! The very title of the weekender demands that we source outstanding artists for this event. In past years we've seen artists including; The Miracles, Kim Weston, Brenda Holloway, JJ Barnes, The Spinners and Chuck Jackson. The Midnight Hour Crew had their work cut out to further raise the bar, but it is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce the booking of Tavares, The Velvelettes, Dean Parrish and Tony Momrelle.

Tavares will take to the stage on Friday night to perform their full range of disco classics including; Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, Don't Take Away The Music, It Only Takes A Minute and Whodunnit.

We were very proud to work with The Velvelettes at our first Legends Weekender at Hemsby on the East coast and now they're back Saturday night to perform their Northern Soul and Commercial classics; Needle In A Haystack, Lonely, Lonely Girl Am I, These Things Will Keep Me Loving You, He Was Really Sayin Somethin.

Also on Saturday night we are very excited to bring you the Northern Soul Legend that is Mr Dean Parrish. Famous for being the last record to be played at each Wigan Casino all-nighter, his live rendition of "I'm On My Way," is guaranteed to raise the hairs on the back of your neck!

In the Modern Soul Arena Fish has been tracking a certain artist across the globe to secure him for the "Without Boundaries" Arena. Tony Momrelle performed with Incognito at Prestatyn 2008 and so impressed the crowd with his polished, soulful vocals that Fish has brought him back to perform on the Saturday night. Tony was recently spotted by Sade, who recruited him to perform on her World Tour, so Fish had to work particularly hard to negotiate and book him for this event, enjoy.

For those of you new to the event, LEGENDS, differs from our March weekender in that we have a Commercial Soul Arena operating along side the Northern and Modern Soul Arenas. So all you hardened Soulies, with civilian; spouses, partners, or mates can bring them along as, with a selection of the country's very best; Northern, Modern and Commercial Soul DJs spread across four arenas, there'll definitely be something soulful for them to party to.

Channel 6 Soul Radio will be beamed live into each apartment, so the party won't stop, even when you're away from the venues. DJs will be playing soul from across the board and will feature many tracks not usually heard on the dance-floor.

LEGENDS 2010 is packed full of soul treasures to relish so, don't miss any of the action.

Just been up to the site this week, to see our new 'Without Boundaries' room for the 'Modern Soul' side of the event - and must say the space looks great !!

Bigger room, with it's own access - can't wait to see it fully kitted out - it'll be fantastic : - ))

No - there are no day passes available, just full weekend packages.

Your best bet is to see if anyone is selling a spare wristband, which they ocassionally do on here - keep checking the thread.
