New a girl up the Highland Room who thought Lou Edwards went.........

"Talkin' 'bout Uncle"

"Thinkin' 'bout Uncle"

When Ian Levines tailor mades were played at Wigan a few people thought "Doomsday" sounded like "BRYLCREEM" over the Casino speakers.

Nige, to be honest i'll take it a step further, i can't remember titles, can't recall the words and as my Mrs says to me "Brett, for a person who loves this music as much as you do, it's a crying shame that you can't sing a note"

I used to rave about a record "My Sweet Baby" by an artist with a falsetto voice. Turned out to be Jackie Wilson's now classic "Who Who Song".

I actually travelled about 30 miles out of my way to buy "Whatever Sign You Are" by the Supremes. It wasn't what I thought it was - The Gems I''ll Be There"

A mate of mine was convinced that the Capreez "How to make a sad man glad' was actually "How to get to San Jos" :D

Other howlers include Garnet Mimm's 'Looking for you" aka the Mavis' song- "Mavis I need you!" :)

Sue Lynn 'Don't pity me"- aka "talk to me, talk to me"Shane Martin's 'Bobby's girl" ??? from the line-'She was a good lookin woman , and I new she could BUT SHE WAS BOBBYS GIRL"

And someone on this site (who for reasons of embarrasment will remain nameless) The New Wanderers with "Red Alert!"instead of "This man in love"-Just substitute red alert for everytime they sing the title! :)

Remember the Mrs asking a prominent Dj for 'The Moon Walk' in the seventys - turned out to be....................'Cool Off' - Detroit Execs. :)

She also liked 'Kangarilla' back then..................'cant Hurry Love' - Supremes :D

We spent many an hour on the re-wind button trying to learn the words of our faves in the early days,

Still dont know most of em!

If anyone can post the lyrics to the Vondells

Hey girl you've changed

I,ll be impressed and enlightened

All I can get is the chorus and

"You wear bell bottom flare in 1960,s style"

Well girl you dance and you dress with style

I just watch you playing darling in your mini skirt

Let do the latest dance

Now for sure, just take a chance

Now any minute I might lose control

And in to your arms I'm gonna go, go

Hey girl, my, have you changed!

Now when you were my girl you didn't look the same

You changed because you love me?

Because you love me?

Because you love me?

Ha, it's all right

Hey baby, it's out of sight

You wear bell-bottom pants in just the latest style

Every time I see you it really drives me wild

In your plat-former boots and hip-huggers too

Girl you look so fair standing in your mini skirt

I said, hey girl, my, have you changed!

When you were my girl you didn't look the same

Did you change because you love me?

Because you love me?

Because you love me?

Hey girl, I need you

Hey girl, I want you

Hey girl, I want you bad

Hey girl, I dig you act

Hey girl ……. well alright

Hey baby you know it

Honey, don't you know it

You're out of sight

Hey baby, you've changed

Oh, sock it to me now ‘cause you're looking good

Sock it to me, honey, I knew you would

You know you're up-tight and out of sight

Hey, it's alright

Oh baby ………

He hardly pronounces the t so it does sound a bit odd

" I had to pick a fight"

"so I wouldn't have to see her tonight"

"Acted like a smarty"

"So she wouldn't suss the Part"

"Oh I hope it turns out alright"

Ali Duff has pointed out to me, on more than one occasion, that if you listen to The Vibrations - Cause Your Mine closely, there's a line around 1 minute in that sounds like:

" You're love is like Denis Waterman"

He's the absolute bollochs at that sort of thing ...

All his work;

Hey girl are you blind, can't you read between the lines, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me.

Every day that she walks by, I give her my biggest smile, but it's always in pain and I sit here praying again. Hey girl are you blind, can't you read between the lines, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me. I love you, I need you, honest I do. So stop overlooking me, looking me, so stop overlooking me, looking me.

Gee wizz, you're acting like a kid, all this long, it's no joke. I'm crazy about you, crazy crazy, now I can't live without you, I can't live without you.

Hey girl are you blind, can't you read between the lines, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me. Stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me, stop over stop over stop, stop overlooking me looking me.

me too....now what about those Mello Soul lyrics you posted many moons ago Simon :(

Why do you always cry when I say goodbye?

When you know we can make it (let me hear you brother)

That hurt I can't deny (now let me hear my soul brother yeah, yeah, yeah)

Now love makes me suffer, you and I are still one

We can make it my darling, yes, just you and I

Why do you think I tell you every day?

Cause the feeling that is so deep, darling it's deep down within me now

Let me tell you girl, no, no, no, no.....

Love, since we have ????, oh my darling, brings the hurt out in us now

We can make it my yes, just you and I

Sax break

- Oh, say that you want me, girl

- I'd die, if I didn't love you so

- And I'd die if I've got to you go

Let's put our feelings together, we're supposed to be one

Because there's one thing that you have to dig girl

'All be all' with us now, let me tell you girl, no, no, no, no

Love, since we have ????, oh my darling, brings the hurt out in us now

We can make it my darling, yes, you and I

- Oh, say that you want me , yeah, yeah

- I'd die, if I didn't love you so

- And I'll die if I've got to let you go

Baby

Every hour of......

I used to like a record when I was a nipper and my brother told me the words were "I believe in Malcolm" and I thought that's what it was called for years...until it was in that Full Monty film and I realised it was really "I believe in Miracles".... If you listen to it it does sound like Malcolm though? A little bit?
