Personally, I've always considered the UK London version more desirable.

I don't get to Nighters quite as often as i would like to these days, due to working abroad, but when i do go out, i quite often hear things i don't know, that i'm personally not keen on, but ya know

Well the scene is safe for a long time then. Because there's loads of records about with that beat that have never been played on the northern scene. Because they aren't northern. That's a rock and r
Highly elusive New Orleans FUNK from two of the Crescent City’s most prolific purveyors of the genre - Eddie Bocage & Al Scramuzza legends of the New Orleans Soul-Sound serve notice with some heavy, heavy duty FUNK
The huge demand for the “Deep Funker” triggered a reissue on “Vampi Soul” erarly this century, whilst leaving this 60s first press original even more sought after, as awareness rose. Today this is still a seldom seen trophy for those of you who only seek to own, first press originals.
Street-attitude reverberates throughout this “JB” inspires hammond prompted stroller, with Sonny in dictatorial-mood chanting out the instructions for the dance…
“Ain’t It A Groove”
Sonny it certainly is !

This weeks eye-catching TMG rarity covers a flipside that was the cornerstone to every Youth Club disco in the country during the late 60s and early 70s, consequently beckoning 1,000s upon 1000’s of teenagers in a life of Soul-appreciation.
The a-side also provided UK Motown with a classic recording from the labels most-loved pairing. Strong sales on the back of these two winners on one disc.
But as a perfect condition Green & White DEMO this is one serious collectors piece as unequaled euphoric recall ignites instantly as that immortal intro of zinging string cuts the air..

Until recently this crunching double-slab of New York Northern Soul was virtually unknown other than treasured attention from legendary DJ “Mr. Finewine”.
For years it was a totally exclusive New York happening, as another two of the world’s TOP RARE SOUL JOCKS the highly-esteemed Big Apple Jocks, who’s sets consistently ripple with the potent style of 60s Soul dance.
To underline that both sides are equally impressive DJ Honky plays one side - whilst Manhattan’s “Dig Deeper Club” DJ Mr. Michael Robinson giving the opposite side equally enthusiastic attention.
So let, E.J. Rush aka “Paul Sindab” take you on a runaway truck journey as it crashes through all dancefloor barriers delivering goods on a wave of horns and Sindab’s urgent breathtaking vocal. Relentless, persistent and growing stronger every second until it careers into one mighty bass guitar break, whipping up even more dance-enthusiasm.
Both sides in the style of the 60s Soul greats; Wilson Pickett, Arthur Conley, Rodger Collins etc. this too is a drop of the proper-stuff…but that’s not all.
Flip it over and again Paul Sindab rides bareback over horns, twanging guitars so-expertly, we dare to say “Otis-style”. Tackling the stop-start production by deftly timing his vocal perfectly into the intricate arrangement..
KILLER REAL-DEAL 60s Northern Soul from the heart… delivering not once but twice over.
SO FREAKING RARE!! and time it started to rip in the foundations of a few British Clubs too…

A celestial vocal, that has taken us all to Heaven and back for over 40 years and it still sounds as enchanting as ever.
Undoubtedly considered one of the finest female records ever played, so there is little we can say to elevate it any higher than it already sits…
Other than, to mention the sumptuous flipside “Who Am I”, which I’m not alone in thinking is every note as good - and would give the DJ’s who come out in a rash, at the thought of playing the tried and trusted classic, a mighty fine tune to drop the arm on….
This original Detroit ZTSC stamped press is in just impeccable condition.. two totally clean labels and vinyl to match… what’s not to love?

CLASSIC 60s SOUL… in by far its rarest form.
Toussaint’s biggest selling single in the USA recognized as one of the truly iconic Deep Soul recordings of the 60s; But of course in the UK in 1967, it sold absolutely nothing.
Before you today is a listing for the dedicated British rarity collector who seeks the seldom-seen in the finest condition possible. This 45 is certainly all of that, as gleaming Promo still residing in it’s birth-sleeve.
Toussaint’s testament to his love is everlasting, featuring in throw-back 60s movies and several TV adverts over the years. It is indeed peerless Deep Soul. In extreme contrast the flipside allows Mr. McCall to brandish his keyboard skills on a hard-hitting Hammond Boo-Ga-Loo groove..
Two great sides - one highly desirable disc.

This week’s weird and wonderful “Foreign” release, is quite stupidly rare on its USA New Orleans original on ETAH but amazingly enjoyed a brief Canada window too.
Solid Northern Soul from the NOLA ETAH production team, who filled the arrangement with pumping horns and slamming piano, with Mike’s guttural vocal strutting in typical New Orleans style; backed up by a full but uncredited harmony vocal-group, unsurprisingly it got covered-up as “Willie Tee” when it was first discovered.
A strong Northern Soul dancer “Willie Tee” style, with a very aware cult following..
Flip it over to enjoy New Orleans Deep Soul at it’s most fluid. You will be forgiven for likening it to Lee Dorsey in style and delivery; but again that vocal group enrich the session with their silky choruses.
This copy is the first we have ever listed - and the condition is impeccable throughout.
Looks stunning doesn’t it..

Thank heavens those Northern Soul bootleggers were at times, just too darn lazy to provide any quality control measures within their parasitic activities.
The bootleg of this fabulous piece of Girl-Group Northern Soul has not only muffled cassette-standard sound quality but also has a plain boring standard text style white and black label.
So click the soundfile and let Roger Bass’s rocket you back to the halcyon days the shimmering Girl sound filling the air at the Niters.. This is definitive Girl vocal Northern Soul..presented on one of the most simplistic but at the same fascinating 60s labels ever designed.
This copy is in beautiful clean condition, by the way…as you can hear and see.

YOUR MISSION IF YOU DECIDE TO ACCEPT IT!!
is a BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN undertaking.
Today’s challenge is to find a better example of the genre.. then find one that offers BBH twice over… Then find an example in flawless possibly unplayed before the soundfile was lifted..condition.
we could of course add to your task by asking for it in RARE STOCK copy form but we feel it’s an impossible assignment to complete as it is…

RARE SWEET SOUL? A worldwide shout-out to all Sweet-Soul Guru’s provided the information required to ascertain this is not “The Domestic Five” but actually the “Soul In-Pressions” with two fabulous harmony grooves.
James Lately’s name which appears on this labels other seriously RARE and highly sought after 45 on the Detroit based Aquarius label The Domestic Five “It’s An Empty World (Without You Girl)” has been black over. Leaving only co-producer Henry Watkins Jr. visible. This is a mislabeling that has caused much confusion in the past, but does not detract from the pure distilled quality that lies in the grooves.
This 45 gives up two superior Sweet-Soul-Strollers of note.
… click into two meticulously constructed Detroit Sweet Soul rarities… we know you’ll be impressed. Because almost invariably this 45 is only found in street-used condition - this “find” has stunning, full shine Mint - condition surfaces that as you can already appreciate play flawlessly.

ONCE HEARD NEVER FORGOTTEN is this the ultra-rare Ginger Taylor cover-up!
A suitably contagious Chicago vocal-group Northern Soul dancer, that is near “impossible” to acquire, made doubly-difficult by the flipside being considered one of the “Windy City’s” most-wanted Doo-Wop 45 trophies.
Top Jock Ginger’s choice is of course the decidedly different mid-tempo that you will be unable to prevent from getting under-your-skin as the “Cole’s” vocal mesmerizes with beseeching nativity, the occasional “crack” in his throaty vocal making his plea even more convincing, with the Grandures response oh so perfected pitched this record will have you slowly but surely hooked.
The flip side as we previously mention is highly-prized Doo-Wop shaker, I know very little about USA most-collectable music genre - but I can feel the attraction.
Condition is for the ghetto creation, is fine and clean and plays perfect on the “Northern” with only a few very minor surface blemishes NOT affecting play. Flip it over the play surface is vg+ I did detect a few very insignificant light surface clicks in the very background, not detracting from the overall sound in any way..and that insane sax break beats all I’ve heard recently.
RAREST OF THE RARE act accordingly

We were gonna save this 45 for our yearly CHRISTMAS MINTS auction feature; as this PROMO may never have been out of it’s sleeve before today’s sound was lifted. But a year looking at this Northern Soul treasure would have been too long and I would have played it to death in the office - after all this is a spirit lifting masterpiece with a huge feelgood factor..
Totally enchanting tune, immersed so far into its own simplicity that it is nothing short of brilliance!
Likened to those other greats that stroll around unhurried like “Matthew Le Tissier” picking precision passes at will. Or Bobby Kline, Frank Howard, Al McCarther none of those 3 were great footballers but they certainly knew how to calmly amble around never breaking into sweat but triggering a huge shift in mood and atmosphere.
This underlines that age-old saying “simple is genius”
Not overlooking the fact that that magnificent “Rugby All Niter” reverberated to the flipside “You’re Always On My Mind” courtesy of “outside The Box” DJing by Phil Shields.
… two great sides underlining, those suck-slowly “Manship Mints” are not only for Christmas..

I hadn’t heard this 45 for quite some time, but dug it out as a few inquires for the titles availability started to come in, this triggered me to dig. Then I immediately recognized what the “buzz” was all about…
Whilst maybe in the last century it would have been consider a fabulous floater but not a dancefloor bomb! But today it is just perfect for crowd .. as sounds like The Stoppers, The Rays, are on the comeback trail ..this title too has all the quality and charm to snugly sits in those so styled sets.
Truly beautifully constructed, sumptuous vocals embroidered into a Joe Hunter arrangement gives up a most impressive mid-pacer decorated with magical trumpet interventions.
CLASS! and full marks to those DJs endorsing this slick-style of Northern Soul..but then again I am drenched in bias..
This copy by the way is flawless !!

It is quite some mystery why this 1968 45 never achieved a USA release, amazingly British only press. Even more puzzling is the fact not a single track from her highly regarded VEEP album “With You In Mind” realized life as a 45.
Only these two album tracks, both of which are stunning Henry Glover, New York conceived Northern Soul beauties, enjoyed a 7” press, in the UK only.
So click the oh-so powerful sound-files, to unleash two booming Sister stompers carrying with them, huge presence. They may call Jeanette Washington, “Baby” but as you are about to witness there is absolutely nothing “Baby” about this Divas vocal prowess.
Championed by Richard Searling for decades, as are some of the album tracks…but still it is time that everyone worldwide heard these jewels, that USA United Artists completely passed over..
Top Drawer British release Northern Soul - in flawless condition.

It’s been over two decades or more since this 45 turned up, as tiny handful discovery, causing a minor sensation, as it was Butch’s “STARTONES” cover-up at the time circa The Mello Souls era. The soul collecting world couldn’t believe that records of this quality had been left undiscovered throughout the Wigan Casino, Blackpool Mecca & Cleethorpres Pier era and for it to become available to mere mortals was a huge surprise.
Aghast at the thought of what the effect such Northern Soul perfectness would have been at the 3 major “temples” of the time. Unfortunately, late 80s & early 90s was not such a fertile time for breaking new “finds” to the masses; so this rough-edged vocal-group stomper, instead slipped underground for more front-room or cassette tape appreciation as Butch “dropped” his secret sound.
I think now is the time for this pumping horn driven screamer to breakout into the now burgeoning Northern Soul scene. This is the real-deal, proper relentless rarity with every note offering Northern Soul in its rawest form.
Having slept, snooze, slumbered away into barstool conversations, forum musings for way too long now. Time it got heard at a large venue in full swing at midnight - not a Northern Soul heart would leave the floor..
A 45 who’s siesta is over… especially as the flipside is an equally bombastic instrumental that would set clubs like “Dig Deeper” in Manhattan all as frenzy… Two killer sides - get on it…..
