Paul Shirley
old brigade all crap dancers?? well well what a load of shit that statment is .in my opinion there was more good dancers around back in the 70s than today thats for sure this is somthing that i have been saying for years . there are cracking dancers around now as well but for my money those that are any good these days move exactly the same as the old brigade in the 70s and no i do not mean the idiots who do back drops and nearly take peoples eye's out jumping around all over the place . some of us old brigade stil move with grace & confidence with precision timing granted there are some sights on the floor but there is a hell of a lot of 40 somthings that simply dont have a clue and clearly have copied others from years ago without much sucses . back in the day it took yonks to build the confidence and gain the know how . now you need f.... insurance to go near the dance floor . and just for the record without us old buggers around today your northern soul scene would be very very small indeed .so you had beter thank your lucky stars that we aint all stuck in the past Link to comment

Mark didn't say I didn't like them - the point is simple- all the tunes listed were playd 77 or prior by Russ including Love music. I wouldn't say it was massive but it was one of Russ's first hour records for about a year and was kind of a casino classic in so far as you went through the doors and could expect old Russ to be playing it. Guest bananaman
Over a thousand turned up last year to dance on the holy grail site of Northern soul,The grande Arcade Wigan It may be a shopping centre now and you have to close your eyes and dream a bit to go back to your youth but only a place like the Casino could pull so many people for an event like this. Russ tells me that tickets are selling faster than last year and the fire limit has been increased to 2000 for this event. Now heres my tip for a free nite out Some of last years badges sold for £100 on ebay ( can only happen with the Casino) this being the 35th Anniversay the badges will go for more so my suggestion is buy a few badges which will only be available on the day ,bang them on ebay and it will cover entrance , drinks and poss a hotel to crash afterwards, also if you buy Steve (the badge man)a pint he might sell you a black badge, i believe there are only ten of these and they will be worth serious a bob or two. So if you can close your eyes and dream you now where to go and if you cant dream then I beleive Top Man have got a good sale on for full details check https://www.wigan-casino.co.uk/ IF YOU DONT FANCY DANCING IN SHOPPING MALL HOW ABOUT COMING TO SHREWSBURY BUTTERMARKET ALNIGHTER WE ARE DOING OUR OWN 35TH ANNIVERSAY NOTHING GRAND JUST GOOD MUSIC WITHOUT THE BULL SHIT !!!!!
