As an extension to the ongoing "I saw my first kingfisher today" thread, I thought it might be interesting if people wanted to post and share any wildlife pics that they've taken. As I said on the other thread, that way instead of just talking about what birds and other wildlife we've seen, we can also show photos of them. 

 

Hope you think it's a good idea.

 

As the current topic in the "kingfisher" thread is herons, I thought I'd start with a couple of pics of them that I've taken...

Next up, a couple of pics of blackbird chicks, which I was lucky enough to get while looking out through a window at home.

 

 

 

Come on then, show us what you've got. The only condition is that the photos are ones you've taken yourself.

 

This is the terrain of 2 very small lizards, we call them Larry & Lana. Every time we went to photograph them they scarpered off. Nice flowers.............

Judging by how steep your garden is there , are you sure they are not Mountain Goat

I know a beautiful bird they are. They are very rare on the RSPB amber list. They are also not meant to be in the Pennines, well that's a load of crap cos where I live is part of the North Pennines!

You are right now that I have had a proper look at the picture...I was brought up to know British birds and wildlife my granda taught me the names, of course it helps living deep in the countryside. We get a sparrowhawk in our garden snatching a sparrow out of the bushes now and again

Looks like but It's not a Chaffinch Suz, you can't see it but the tail is almost as long as the bird's body, there was a flock of 10 or so of them.

I know Pete I agree it is a Long Tailed Tit now I've had a look at it. I haven't seen any of them in our garden. We get blue tits, great tits and coal tits though

A pair of blackbirds have built a nest in a bush just outside our kitchen window so I have tried to photo some of their comings and goings.The male always likes to land at the top of a small tree, look around and then land on the back of a chair before flying into the bush. The female prefers to wait on the shed roof before flying in. They are both very busy , coming back with another poor worm every 7 or 8 minutes. The nest and chicks are impossible to see and the local cats can't get to them.

 

Whilst waiting to photo the blackbirds two sparrows landed on the ground by the bush. One of them was hopping about flicking its tail up and the other was following it and pecking at its behind. What's that all about? 

 

When it starts to get dark one or two bats fly up and down the back of the house, probably feeding on insects. I tried to photo this but all I got was a black screen.

Well done and thanks to our Ste! Some lovely pictures there mate - thanks for sharing. I can't make my mind up whether my favourite is the swallow chicks (probably) or the red breasted Linnet. They're all good.

Lovely! Shame about the plants - although I reckon it's a good exchange to get regular visits from such a cutie!

I agree Peter, last year was a family of 4 but this year this one is on her own.

 

I sat for 15 minutes last week while she demolished all the bird seed in the feeder, no more than 30 feet away and she was not bothered at all.

 

We live right in the centre of the town but right at the end of a dead end street, past the turning circle, right on the edge of the ravine with the creek at the bottom. I have heard the Coyote's but have not seen them yet. Have seen a ground hog a couple of times as well this year as well as our regular fox.

 

The racoon's are a menace though

It was the Coyote's that gave it away! I thought the old las can't live up the road from me in notts!

I used to go out with my camera every chance I could, became a massive hobby. Not been upto much with it this year and thought selling it to fund a new one would give me the kick I needed to start it up again, but, I spent the money on records instead haha. I do miss going out with the camera though.
