I couldn't hear the last question about the Temps but think it was incorrect. Didn't it ask who replaced Eddie Kendricks AND Paul Williams ? Clearly if so, the answer wasnt David Ruffin.....

Bloody hell, even I know them, all but the Neil Young one and Marvin's instrument on Please Mr Postman.

 

If he's a specialist, what does that make us? :)

 

I suppose it is easier said than done though, must be different on the spot and under time.

I did ok too, but I wasn't under the spotlight and I'm not that big on Motown. There was another guy a few years ago, with the same Specialised Subject and I found it easier to answer the questions. If I can beat the top score after all the rounds combined, I reckon I'm not ready for the old folks home....yet !

Drums is correct.  Temptations question is confusing because it states "after My Girl" .  I think they mean David Ruffin, but maybe they should hace worded the question a different way.

Apart from the Neil Young one (which neither me or Pete knew) - an absolute doddle - I even predicted what three of the questions would be before they came on - never thought they'd have anything as stupidly easy as the Berry Gordy question. The official Temps question answer was just wrong as far as we could work it out from any angle.

Wasn't Neil Young in The Mynah Birds (along with Rick James)?  They had a release scheduled for VIP, but it never came out.

By the time the Mynah Birds signed to V.I.P. , the group consisted of   Rick James, Neil Young, John Taylor, Bruce Palmer and Rick Mason.

This might be a bit pedantic but surely the Neil Young question should not have been included if the specialist subject was Tamla Motown as opposed to the Motown Record Corporation.

It won't have been his true specialist subject you are given choices because if you went through each round you would be answering questions on the same subject so the contestant nominates some different subjects and then has to study them. So him getting six was probably ok

I would have got less but then again that's because I don't particularly like Motown

didn't see prog and won't i player anyway as questions already posted here...would it be too much to ask if the answers were posted anyway as well just to clarify matters? deffo wouldn't have got mynah birds and a couple of the others not sure...

The problem is that in these high pressure situations the questions can sometimes be too easy and that can lead to hesitation.  I would think it's pretty easy for some people to just go to pieces if things start to go wrong. It's one thing sitting at home, its another  sitting in the Black Chair knowing a few million  people are going to  be watching you.
