Keep the Faith: Northern Soul – The Proms opening weekend features a stomping celebration of the underground British club phenomenon of the 1960s and 1970s that took English towns across the industrial North and Midlands by storm: Northern Soul (15 July).

Brilliant renditions vocals and backing.

If I had to pick a favourite so far"I never loved her anyway'" which compared to the rest was a bit of a surprise inclusion

When I checked on the website this evening, it is listed as one of the selected proms to be televised, but it didn't have any details. I'd guess it will be out via iPlayer maybe in a few days?

Ovet the years I saw many concerts with pretty bland orchestras....these guys have nailed it.

Tough one to reproduce. This sounds good to me. Maybe a top example of the quality of how well this prom has captured this music?

Brendan Reilly , It Really Hurts Me Girl , great version  & Time , for me first heard at Samantha's Sheffield, played by John Vincent circa 74ish

Agree. Perfectly decent version but strangely not in keeping with just how true to form the rest has been.

But then again, imagine how proud Edwin would have been to have his song showcased like this in the Albert Hall!

Interesting read.  I heard the first 3 tracks, I thought Turning My Heartbeat Up was fine, next 2 less so and gave up at that point to have dinner.  I will have to listen on sounds/I player for a more measured review.

Thought the Dave Arch singers (Strictly) took some beating....but this lot are something else.....

Fabulous concert , Saturday night listening to the wireless , well done to everyone that put this on , loved it.

Enjoyed every minute of it.....my sentiments too....'well done to everyone'!!!!

that was great, some very familiar (and overplayed) songs but sounded fresh and the quality of the tunes shone through

Aren't we lucky to have had such great taste in music all these years and then to have it interpreted so brilliantly, live from the Albert Hall in 2023.
