Endless list really and maybe better broken down into sub cats.

Currently singing along to Elbie Parkers - Please keep away from me, just love the way he 'alters' the keep word.

Long time fave would include Lenny Curtis - Nothing can help you and Eloise Laws - Love factory, just about able to sing it all through after about 5000 listens over the last 30 years................

Always a favourite line for me is from Shirley Whal's - 'That's How Long' - King

'Tell the DJs they've got nothing to say... until they have no more records to play'

Also the last line of Chuck Holiday - 'Just Can't Trust Nobody' - Gloria

'That low down dirty dog just stole my woman'

but more recently... Parliaments - My Rainy Day - Cabell

'I have stripped the pride.. of many a young girl.. yeah' ..... LOVE IT!

Whats your favourite lyrics from a northern/soul sound

here's mine...classic Motown

The Temptations -you've got to earn it (Gordy G 7043 US)

(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

To get stones from a rock, you've got to break it

(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

To get bread from dough, you've got to bake it

(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

To get water from a faucet, you've got to turn it

And if you want my love, if you want my love

You've got to earn it (Earn it, earn it, earn it)

(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

To get fire from a match, you've got to strike it

(Strike it, strike it, strike it, strike it)

To get the feeling from a kiss, you've got to like it

(Like it, like it, like it, like it)

To get ashes from wood, you've got to burn it

And if you want my love, if you want my love

You've got to earn it(Earn it, earn it, earn it)

You've got to treat me kind, all the time

Throw the other guys right out of your mind.

(Yeah,yeah)

(Instrumental)

Now listen

To make broken things work, you've got to fix them

(Fix them, fix them, fix them, fix them)

To make two things one, you've got to mix them

(Mix them, mix them, mix them, mix them)

To get butter from milk, you've got to chum it

And if you want my love, if you want my love

You've got to earn it(Earn it, earn it, earn it)

If you deserve it you can get it

I'll be glad to see you with it

Just show me that you love me

And that you're thinking of me

You can get it in a...

The whole of Williams and Watson 'Two for the price of one'. They just sound like two good mates taking the piss out of each other all the way through it.

Their 'Too Late' is pretty good too...

Understanding - Patrick Green

"That lady you saw me talking to,

She was a second cousin of mine.

It wasn't really necessary

For you to act such a clown."

Over a stately but swinging soul background, complete with horns and female chorus (a wonderful cameo by Jewel Bass), the song quickly becomes an anthem for put-upon males, the story of a righteous man throwing off an emotional burden.

The signature line--the line that defines the song and burns itself into your memory--is:

"Seven years bad luck.

Broke the mirror in my pickup truck."

Not a soul record, but worthy of inclusion on grounds of comic appeal...

"You walked into the party/Like you were walking onto a yacht/Your hat strategically dipped below one eye/Your scarf it was apricot/You had one eye in the mirror/As you watched yourself gavotte" ("You're So Vain")

I know the reason you've been crying

Oh yes I heard she won't be needing you

How does it feel being the one left behind

What's a matter baby is it hurting you

I know you found out she's been cheating

And I heard she even told you she was untrue

How does it feel being on the outside looking in

What's a matter baby is it hurting you

Remember

Remember when I needed you so bad

Remember

Remember what you had to say

You told me to find another shoulder to cry on

Then you laughed

You laughed and you walked away

I know that you've been asking about me (ha-ha)

And I'm sorry but I've got somebody new

Now my hurting is just about over

But baby it's just starting for you!

I will build you a castle with a tower so high

It reaches the moon

I'll give you everything from birdies that fly

And compose you a tune

Ah the romance is STILL alive!

This Old Heart of Mine the lyrics do it for me but to hear the music and singing voices of Isley Brothers too it's a song that just makes me think wow.

i also love the lyrics to Just a Little Misunderstanding but the best lyric of all and i know it's my fav song it has to be chorus to Sugar Dumpling it's just a song that no matter what i would sing it to someone i love and it means a lot same with Jeff Perry - Love Don't Come No Stronger powerful lyrics in the chorus.
