southandnorth
First of all we would like to say a big thank you to you all for supporting this event and the kind remarks we have received, A BIG THANK YOU. But at the moment our thoughts are with Julie & family, we have just spoken to Julie and she has informed me to let you all know of the tragic circumstances. Mark Rubenzer aged 44 died of massive heart attack and there would have been nothing that anybody could have done to save him, but Julie would like to thank all those involved in their efforts to try and save him. Julie also stated that Mark was having a good time surrounded by all his friends and his love of the music. We have also just come back from a meeting with the management at the Castle over next years event which will take place on the 21st August 2010, as you know this event was going to be in memory of June Leighton who sadly passed away this year and all profits going to Cransley Hospice, but after the tragic circumstances of this year, this also must go ahead in Memory of Mark as well, and to the charity that Julie decides. We raised this year through the Raffle and the All-Dayer CD in the region of £500.00 as we actually ran out of raffle tickets, will give you the correct amount soon, and we would like to say a big thank you, now i have thought hard & long over the last day and have decided to put the money into a separate high interest account to make money, this will then go with next years amount and be split between the 2 Charities. Also for next year we have applied for a 2am finish and late bar, also a further bar will be installed for this day. Next year we expect more that would like to come, but we are going to cap it at 600 and tickets will go on sale in the website soon. www.freewebs.com/soulinthehind Kind regards Kev & Gloria Bourne Link to comment

southandnorth
Have spoken to Julie and told her about all the messages on this thread and she would like to thank you all. Julie also asked me to put Mark's photo into our website and a few words, also Mark's best friend Ciro rang me to give me his favorite tracks which has also been added. The funeral will be sometime next week and i will keep you all posted on this. As you know next years All-Dayer will be in Memory of Mark Rubenzer and June Leighton and all profits will go to there chosen Charities along with the £567.00 we raised this year. This year i only made 40 Anniversary CDs and we sold them within the first hour, lots of people on the day wanted one and i did promise to make some more in which all the profits will go towards our collection next year, well these are now on sale in the website if anybody wants one. We have now all the DJs booked for next year and what a line up. Sean Chapman, Mick H, Keith Minshull, Rob Smith, Yocky, Little Scotty, Dave Rimmer, Paul Donnelly, Ted Massey, Danny Clegg, Kev Such, Moldie, Steve Towers and many more guests. If we get the 2am finish this will be 15 hours of soul and we expect tickets will sell fast so we have capped it at 600 and these are now on sale in the website. Myself & my wife Gloria would like to say a big thank you for supporting this event. Photos have now been put into the website. Just want to explain that this year we made £567.00 through the raffle and the CD, this should have been 3 times this amount but we ran out of raffle tickets, this was my fault as i had bought 2 books of raffle tickets with a thousand tickets and when these were sold they should have been sold separately, but unknown to me were sold in strips, once i found out it was to late, but i take full responsibility as i should have informed them. That will make me now work even harder on this event next year to make up, plus the CD is now on sale in the website with a free car sticker and all profits will go to this collection. southandnorth
Received this letter from Julie and i thought i would share it with you, must admit this brought tears to my eyes, GOD BLESS MARK YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTON: Letter from Julie I will miss Mark so much and cannot bear to think of not being with him again, we had been together for 29 years and have a lot of fond memories, but the fact is that Mark will always be there and I know he will still be going to Northern soul events it's just that we wont see him. He had a way of making his presence known though so I suspect we may see "some signs". I really appreciate the event for next year being done in memory of Mark and as I said earlier know that you had planned an event this year that Mark enjoyed to his last moments on this earth; he died doing what he loved dancing and being with his mates and without this event that may not have been the case. Love to you both Julie Link to comment
