Robin S
Sorry Alan, no Sonic Explosion these days - but if anyone wants to bring one up I'll certainly play it with pleasure..be good to see you again mate thats for sure. Thanks Sean, Dave has promised me an earlier spot than was usual...so we'll see! Feel free to remind me on of other spins of the time - memory not too bad but sketchy in places - Pretty sure I remember Steve Shelto,Maxine Singleton,Glenn Jones, in the early days. They would sound hellish over such a good system! Dave, thanks for the kind remarks - cannot wait now! Link to comment

Hi Robin, Be good to see (and hear) you out again, young un must be nearly grown up I've still got a list somewhere that you sent me of some of the records you played mid 80's time. I'll see if I can find it, over 100 records on it. Link to comment

They would sound hellish over such a good system! Dave, thanks for the kind remarks - cannot wait now! Hi Robin, those three will do for a start! I have kept most of the stuff from that time that I bought so there aren't many that I have not heard since then that I can think of and it's not for me to tell you what to play - but I will! Rome Jeffries would sound good and maybe one of the Kashif tracks or something with that Mighty M production going on, seeing as how the sound system is meant to be top notch it would be good to hear some stuff with quality production on it. Leroy Burgess, Larry Wu, Surface, better stop now before the list gets unmanageable. Yvette Cason, The Live Band, Gary Taylor AAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! If you get any requests that you want to play but no longer have PM me and if I have it I will bring it up - I suppose this means I'm going now - can anyone lend me the money to get in? Cheers Sean Link to comment

Mick Howard
Hey up Dave - keeping up a good fight ;-) If I could close my eyes and dream of little pieces of vinyl with blank white labels scribed with big bold black felt tip titles that you knew weren't real, but somehow seemed just right! Guy H and yourself quietly elevated this post-Wigan venue into a huge version of Accrington's Spinning Jenny. The hunger for the underexposed 45 had to eventually surface with an almost aggressive fervour, a great intensity and passion for the 'secret-sound', the underdog who's day had dawned! If I could close my my eyes and see: Rob Marriott, Jimmy Wizz, Russ Coe, Stan, Barry W, Billy Mercer, Billy Stewart, Brad, Dave Molloy, Dave Alcock, Shaun Pawsey, Giz, Gilly, Jock and Colin, Stigger, Dean, Pete Lawson, Click, Tim F, Bernie Gouldin, Salmon, Gary Kellett, I'd say to them... lads 25 years is going to pass us by REALLY quickly. Wigan Casino was a previous incarnation, and all them fit birds we fell in love with will look much younger than we do in 25 years time ;-) Alas, this is just a snapshot of names and there were many more that made TOTW - top of the world. Stu Raith - aka Boogaloo Master, Lancashire A Go-Go, S*F stomper. Accrington Lancashire Available for DJ work. Playlist available on request. Includes master tape dubs from Hot wax, Invictus and So-Sho. Hey Stuart Can't remember exactly whether you were there but do you remember me getting lost near Jo Brocks house in Preston after going for a newspaper 'cos I was quite messy? I think it was after a Stafford all nighter and I'm fairly you and Penny were there along with Pete Lawson, Stan, Billy, Giz, Dave Brennan and perhaps a few others. Great times to be sure and you hit the nail on the head by saying that was indeed 'Top' of the World.... Mick Link to comment
Alan Walls
Cheers Chalky, that list fairly brings it back. Great stuff. As much as we loved our new 60's, the Scots crowd always looked forward to Robin's sets. Loved the fact that he was on at peak time - between Guy & Keb, if I remember correctly - rather than too early, which is to Dave's great credit. Link to comment

Guest Chris Waterman
Just a quick update, Mace and I went down to Stafford today to check with the venue as we had not seen it since the start of the refurbishments, well it looks fecking awesome, even better than it looks in the photos posted up earlier in this thread, We hope to have the website updated later this week with lots of video footage from 85/86 and the 20 year reunion, but as stated previously tickets are on line now and out and about, just look out for Steve Cato (NW & Manchester), Johnny Beggs ( Where ever you see his sales box), Dave Thorley ( Glos area), Little Scotty (most Midland events), Steve Thomas ( North Wales who is also running a coach) and this weekend see Mace at Bidds Rare Soul Allnighter, I will have them with me at The Spiders Web Edinburgh this Saturday Best Chris W Link to comment

Also not wanting to worry anyone, but Chris tells me that over 400 tickets have sold already, so if you haven't got one yet maybe worth getting on New Century's site an snag yourself one. Guest Chris Waterman
Hi All Update The website ticket outlet is now working again, bloody Paypal had stopped buyers from using the service whilst they checked us out for money laundering, so sorry to all those that have been emailing saying they can't use the service. we are now past the 500 mark with a month to go, so all looking good. Also Mike has finished uploading all the old flyers and Video footage from Chasing Rainbows and the 20 year reunion, so a big thanks to Mike for that. This weekend Mace and Johnny Beggs will have tickets with them at Lifeline or as stated above goto www.newcenturysoul.co.uk and click on the Stafford page Best Chris W Link to comment
Md Records
"Simms Twins" was "Little Ron & Esquires" still a pretty rare tune. Got my ticket, thanks to the Mace man, but I'd like a sales table for this, do I book here, and what's the deal with them? Des Link to comment

Dave Thorley
Me and Woody have our tickets, never thought when we went all those years ago, that we would be going again in 2010, looking forward to it immensely Strange I know. Went to see the finished club yesterday, it is superb. Very much a new club, but just here and there echoes of the place we all loved some much, it will send a shiver down your spin. The owners, who we met yesterday, are very aware of the heritage of the place they now own and are very much looking forward to this special night. Although I started out a little cool to the idea, I'm now very much looking forward to it. Spoke to Guy yesterday and he is already sorting through records for his set on the night. Also as an aside, the old kebab shop next to the taxi rank is still there, a few doors along, so those that like real nastalgia may want to pop in there first for a quick bit to eat I would also like to thank those other promoters that have moved things around for us to run this night. See when we want to, we can work together. I know you hear this all the time, but tickets are selling very fast, Chris reckons at least 10 a day are going out the door, It could be a sell out so get them now, so not to be disapointed. Guest in town Mikey
Oor 'tradition' would be to go into the pub on the corner of the main road (Past the venue if coming from the train station) and if there were 3 of us, Paul would order 4 pints, and down the first while the barmaid was pulling the second Also a nice Steak and Kiddley pudding from the chip van man. I will try to post a photo later of us enjoying our chips. Link to comment
