My mate used to play this at a do 20 years ago when I was 17, and we used to really love it. It would really fill the floor. I never could find a copy.

Then on my wedding day my wife had bought it for me as a wedding present. (Think she was making apoint more than anything)

On a purely memorable note Lp wise my favorite and probably the commonest Lp ever was the Diana Ross and the supremes greatest hits Lp with the 3 big red lips on. At the time anyway it was the greatest thing to shag all night to with it playing in the background . The nearest anything has come near to it on a love making theme is the Tammi Terrell "Irresistable" Lp .Sheer class.

Very difficult to pin it down to just one track, but probably has to be Linda Jones 'Just cant live my life' even though I am not an oldies fan, this track still does it for me, lifts me to another level and catapults me into aural orgasm every time and defo one to play as im being burned / roasted / toasted / turned into ashes....

Linda had an amazing vocal range and is my favourite female vocalist ever, her stunning vocal on 'You Cant Take It' (french Warner Bros EP/45 & Loma LP mono/stereo) still leaves me completely knackered after all these years, and im just so pleased its finally starting to get the recognition it deserves. I remember putting this onto tape swaps 20 years ago and thinking, 'One day this will be a monster sound'...just need a few more DJs (not lemmings) to play it out LOUD....

If I had to choose a 45, I'ld go with Priscilla Price 'Rockerfella Jones' - a record that has absolutely everything in just under 3 minutes of gorgeousness. Yep, would never part with that one.

Album would be Jean Dushon with 'Make way for Jean Dushon' on 1964 Argo. Just a superb album from start to finish - Hitchhike, Baia, Early one morning.......bootiful!

Strange choice, but I'll go for the first rare record I ever got; my Cameo Parkway copy of "At the Discotheque". Cost me a fiver (some cash, some swaps) back in 1971. I prized it so much that I hardly dared play it!

Now don't laugh!

Not so much prized but when I first got back into the scene a couple of years ago this was a really popular tune at the Ritz and Belle Vue in 1977/78.

I considered buying a copy on a bus from Wigan (trains packed up again) for #100. Just brings back good memories!

Definitely has to be Doug Banks - I just Kept On Dancing! Not rare, but had to pick that purely for the memories. I bought it when I was in the sixth form at school and working in Kwik Save (don't laugh - I still have the delightful purple overall at home somewhere!!) after school and on saturdays. It was a huge record at the time (1989) and I simply had to have it. Mick Smith had turned up quite a few copies and that was the first record I spent a lot of money on - well it was a lot compared to my part time Kwik Save wage - cost me £30 from Mick!

Over the years I've spent a lot more on records, but as I say I HAD to have that record at the time and it meant such a lot to me getting that ellusive sound even if part of me thought (and knew!) I was totally barking spending a week's wages on a piece of plastic!! Happy days!

Then you might think it was Lionel Hampton's "A & T" on Glad Hamp.... cos I know how much Andy BB loathes it.... But EVEN THAT isn't it.

No I think it's the Cookie Jackson I picked up totally out of the blue...... But I'm still not 100% sure.

Yeah I saw that too. I can't remember where though, nor can I remember where the one I just posted, or where it is for that matter! I thought I hadn't posted it right, can you still see it?

Of all the records I ever bought, I think my most special has to be a well loved, one-sided, date stamped, 1959 RCA demo of The Isley Bros - Shout (Part 2). That four part gospel intro is pure exhilaration, and although it got shamelessly murdered by that Luvverpudlian, it's still such an exciting record in its own right. It's black and pure. It's not a Northern record by a long mark. But the thought that it was from a copy like mine that people first heard it on the radio all those years ago still makes me warm inside....

    Imagine my surprise at your choice of "Most Prized Record" as it happens to be mine also. But although I do like it for it's musicality and especially the French Horn, but I prize it because I recorded it for Columbia in 1964. It ended up being the only single I ever released on a major label although I have been recording and engineering tunes all my life with diversions along the way. Thanks for your kind words and that French Horn was played by John Simon, the Producer. He was a young unknown at the time but over the last 40 years has accomplished a lot more than I have. Cheers!

Christ! It's like a long forgotten friend showing up!

I remember racking my brains trying to narrow it down to one when the thread was up first time around. I took so long trying to pin it down to one it disappeared!!!

Right, on with my choice. For pure sentimental reasons and a record I just simply loved when I heard it 20 years ago as a wee lad listening to my Dads tapes is Jan Jones 'Independent Woman' Day-Wood.

Not everyones cup of tea, and one I play very rarely myself, but it takes me back to a time when I listened to music without predjudice and cynicism.

*The tape that the Jan Jones was on was taken from a 'Boot' album called I think 'All Nite Long' and had a grey sleeve with a woman singing into a mic? I think it had some Chicago radio station on the front too?

I think it had Cheryl Berdell, Dells, Tyrone Barkley and loads of other cracking 70's/80's stuff on it.

Was it pressed up in the North West by someone well-known???

All this just came back to me while reminiscing!!!!
