neckender
Good work Chalky...appreciated Just flicking through the Gary Rushbrooke set...the one you have listed as 'Soulmates - Sockin Soul' (track #20) is actually the Green Grunchons All Stars, 'Guys & Gals Bounce' on Boogaloo'...its the instrumental of 'Karate Boogaloo'. Actually, it the copy that Gary played was the soulmates 'sock-in-soul' on double soul, because myself and tim ash found it on one of our US trips. 3 Link to comment Social source share
Dave Thorley
Right, had a listen, it was me, I hang my head in shame. Don't you hate these old tapes, I had clearly blocked that one out of my mind, I can't remember ever having the LP, but must have had at some stage. 2 Link to comment Social source share
Dave Thorley
Now I've listened to the whole of the last part of the mix. Was me from Larry Davis through to Mary Saxton for the second time, boy I must have really believed in that track at the time. Also had completely forgotten about that Joe Simon - One step at a time, that's a bit of a thumper, really did throw it around there, so at least somethings haven't changed. 1 Link to comment Social source share

You live and learn...my defence is I was quickly flicking through and its been a while since I had a Green Grunchon All Stars and the Soulmates is on a green label (!)...did he not play that version as well 'upstairs'? Pete S
Chalky you ought to write a book about this stuff, the knowledge of sounds is just way beyond my comprehension - I can honestly say I've never heard of half the records on these podcasts so the turnaround must have been phenomenal, some titles lasting for maybe just one or two weeks. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
Thanks Pete. I'm useless at putting into words what I want to say so i think the music tells it much better Once complete I will hopefully do some sort of lengthy article, maybe with Dave Thorley's help. There so many more records yet to come. Loads for Guy, I haven't even started with Pat Brady and loads of records from the era I can't seem to pin to any particular DJ. I think this podcast is number 32, all one hour and over and at least a dozen more to come yet. Maybe I'll stop at 50 Link to comment Social source share
