Now I remember why I jacked it all in around 1976. Some truly dreadful records played back then. I guess you had to be there. Only a mother could love some of these tunes.

I thought you never went to Wigan?

A lot of people forget just how big a record. Construction-hey little way out girl-Sync 6, was. Always remember one of the older lads from York coming out of the record bar with a copy of the del-capris on karma sutra saying ive just bought that searling monster lol.

Think I'd rather forget! One of my pet hates of 78, along with James Coit.

I didn't, but I heard what was being played when my mates came round my house with records, EMI's and live tapes. And the Mecca was playing New York Disco by then.

Thought it was Robert L martin,  Fluffy falana?

It was (the cover up name)

Also Ronnie Davies = Ronnie Davie

good tune that

Forgotten sounds from the Casino? Ann Perry was played here in Spain by Mark Sargeant last Saturday night. Admittedly, Spain isn't the UK. I note that most of the records people are posting are 60s tunes. What about some long forgotten 70s biggies? When I first started going there "Love Trap" was being played to death, it was huge, absolutely huge. Ain't it weird how some would want to resurrect dire 60s stuff but ignore stuff like T.D. Valentine? At the risk of being booed, I still quite like "Love Trap". I also love the French Fries.

Remember this being big for a while, don't know if it still gets a spin?

Love Trap is dire 60's.

Great, but that's what I call a real oldie.

Like Florence Devore or Del Capreez, before my time but you just knew they were massive.

Ah yes, STANLEY MITCHELL , WHAT A SOUND, All time classic.......bought my issue copy off Mr Searling on stage at Wigan during his spot....struck a deal as it was still spinning round............................ £3 in 1973

Get away???

Actually I don't mind Love Trap, it's not great but I don't hate it.

That is definitely a forgotten record, haven't heard that played out for 35 years but why?????

Recently realised how good the other side is but thats for the other thread……...

Says 1969 on the UK release, so only 5 years old or so when first played by Russ (?).  Charles Calello arranged it. His name appears on quite a few NS signature tunes, doesn't it?

Someone mentioned The Jive Five "You're A Puzzle" earlier on. Played that out last Saturday. Superb tune. Love those horns.

Get away???

Yep, Pete all true

He is Tommy Mottola see here:

Thomas Daniel "Tommy" Mottola (born July 14, 1949) is an American music executive. He is the co-owner of Casablanca Records in a joint venture with the Universal Music Group. He headed Sony Music Entertainment, parent of the Columbia label, for nearly 15 years.[1]

Tommy Mottola entered in the music scene in the mid 60s as a recording artist for CBS Records under the name "T.D. Valentine". After his attempt to become a recording star himself failed, Mottola started working for publishing powerhouse Chappell Publishing and started his own management company, Champion Entertainment Organization. His role at Chappell put him in touch with many artists, and soon he signed his first successful management clients, Hall & Oates.

Mottola helped Hall and Oates land a record deal and several high-profile endorsements. He was also recognized for successfully using new mediums for promotion, like music videos and corporate sponsorship for music tours.

Apart from Hall and Oates, Mottola is known as a mentor and former talent manager. His most famous protégés were Carly Simon, John Mellencamp,[2] Diana Ross, and Taylor Dayne in the 1980s, Mariah Carey (whom he married) in the 1990s, Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Anastacia and Jennifer Lopez in the early 2000s. He is married to Mexican telenovela actress and singer Thalía.

Get away???

You did know - you've just forgotten.

Be nice to have a 'proper' Wigan night where some of the above lesser know tracks could be played out instead of just the usual Casino parody nights were the promoter thinks that sticking a night owl badge on a flyer and playing the MVP's and Frank Wilson makes it the real deal..... :(
