Guest
Shame you're losing you're venue - and hope the last event there goes with a bang! Haven't seen Stuart for years - give him a kiss and a squeeze from me won't you? Yet again we'll not be along for this one. Have these owners got something against northern soul, do we not fit a certain profile? Can't get a more peaceful bunch than soulies (in general) plenty is drunk, what more is required? Winnie, the owners are in business, and I'm afraid that soulies do not drink anything like the young 'un's do. I'm having the same problems with the owners of my venue. Most of the people that attend my nighter travel a long way. That means that a lot of them have to drive home, and that means no drinking. I am having to give the owners more and more from the door takings to keep them sweet. I don't think we have more than half a dozen local people who attend. Compare that to a wedding reception, 18th or 21st birthday bash, the usual thing that the venue is used for. Where the people are all local and all get hammered, there's just no comparison financially. On the plus side the owner was very impressed with all the compliments and thanks he received from my punters. And there good behavior. But if I keep having to increase his cut of the door takings, how am I going to pay the DJ's? It's a big problem. To get a top quality venue that everyone wants to hire means the owner can afford to pick and choose his clients. It's easy to get a crappy venue, but soulies are far more choosy these days and won't attend unless you are offering them something a bit special. Link to comment
