Luckily, I have a smallish box FULL of "vinyl diamonds"! I hate ever having to part with any of them, whatever their financial value. (I'm not mentioning titles though, as that would seem like bragging!) :wicked:

I bought the limited edition of the Precisions produced for the Prestatyn 2006 weekender. Stood in a queue with my feet on fire for over an hour (regardless of some cockey bint swooshing up and pushing in!). Worth the wait though, the 3 remaining lads signed it and I was happy :wicked:

Not the most expensive record but a real treasure :wicked: Dee Irwin "You satisfy my needs" (UK Stateside Demo Mint)

Johnny Bragg -They're Talking About Me. Elbejay

The first Northern Soul record i ever bought. As one of the next records I bought soon after says - I aint going nowhere, unless I go with you.

:wicked:Gotta be Willie Kendricks on RCA issue £10 from a lad called Greg at Wolverhampton many moons ago, had me Demo pinched when someone had me bag away at wigan  just paid £8 and i was only bringing home 35, yes scum were around then as well, mind you, dont suppose I would have bought the issue had that not have happened.

Blimey, where do I start? Had to sell up last year or lose the house.

Selling stuff like Soul Bros. Inc. - Pyramid - Golden Eye I don't think I'll ever get over :wicked:

Jamie, You are not alone mate, there must be a load of people who, for one reason or another have been forced to sell up, me for one, but the pain does ease over time, honestly, chin up mate. :wicked:

Forced to sell some stunning pieces in the past that I swore I would never, ever part with

Got 3 very special records sitting in my box right now and no-one can take them away from me this time :wicked:

Not gonna name them though - don't want to tempt fate do I

Have a good day everyone

Never part with my UK Esther Phillips - Just sy goodbye, purchased from Camden market for four quid. Or the Magnificent Men - All your lovin's gone to my head, bought from Dave Evison on stage at Peterborough just after he played it...

The dozen or so Rock City nighter gems that people have now somehow forgotten :thumbsup:ph34r.gif

Jimmie Bo Horne "If You Want My Love" Alston. It just does it for me every time.

The dozen or so Rock City nighter gems that people have now somehow forgotten thumbsup.gif:lol:

And They Are

Danny Wagner - I Lost A True Love - Imperial Demo.

Margaret bought me this for Christmas in 1979 before we were even engaged, been married 25 years next month. I remember having a bomb scare at a pub I ran and before the logistics corps carried out a controlled explosion on what turned out to be two telephone directories wrapped in brown paper this was the one record I went back for.

Paul Walters - 521 Records and June Jackson - Your Welcome / Musette

2 recordings It took a long time to get that I simply never get bored of hearing, saying that I could add 200 more but those two are special..

My HMV Demo of The Tams - Hey Girl Don't Bother Me, the record that took me down the soulful road of collecting.

Love this!!!!

Mine would be The Conquistadores on a white demo. I usually prefer issues as they're more appealing to the eye, but this really does for me!

40 years of collecting you amass alot of stuff that you thought you would never find but the discs I prize so much are:-

J.T.Rythym - All I want is you -Palmer.

The Four Tops - Baby I need your loving - Stateside Demo.

The Four vTops - Ask the lonely / Where did you go - Tamla Motown Demo.

Soul Brothers Inc - Pyramid - Goldeen Eye.

The Velvelettes - That's a funny way - Jobete Music Corp.

mike -

cant wait to see you in november when i will talk you out of owning that record and adding it to my collection. love that thing to pieces ... and never see it for sale. at least i will get to hear it played out and will dance my skull off to it.

the one record that i would never get rid of, simply because it just makes me gitty everytime i hear it is Paul Sindab - Cant Wait No Longer on Kasika. just such a happy go lucky tune, with a bit of sentimental value thrown in. will always remind me of one of the funnest weekends i have ever had.

What a TUNE

Al H

Tell Her...Dean Parrish on Boom.....vg--- got it for a mug of tea at Knutsford Services on my first trip to Wigan in 1975. Never been tempted to buy a replacement although it is almost unplayable.

Look into my eyes, not around the eyes....you will give me the Gloria Hill - you won't sell it to people who beg you for it  Same thing with me. Bought the Tempos 'I'll never forget' off Randy in 80/81ish and it'll be allotted to one lucky person in my will  So you'd all better start being nice to me :( Plus the Spinners on UK R&W Tamla Motown 'How can I/ Sweet Thing'....The fat lady will have sung before I part with that - and I ain't singing  Jo

Absolute screamer from back in the day. Encapsulates all the excitement of the era for me.They don't make 'em like this anymore. Frantic perfection. Might not hear it much nowadays but I pull it every now and then. A keeper for life. So good....Tim A wrote a booklet on it!

Not a lot of money. Just exquisite! Soul by the lorry load!

The Emotions - Somebody New - Deep Soul (uk)

three different 45's for three different reasons:

Dobie Gray - Out On The Floor - Charger

The first original US 45 I bought and the last one I'd ever let go - call it played out but to me its the epitome of a Northern Soul dance record and I still love it. I sometimes drop it into a set in the midst of the rare stuff just to show I'm not a vinyl snob :wicked: and it never fails to fill the floor

Jimmy Burns - I really Love You - Erica

Took me years to get a copy and doubt I would ever get another if I sold it.

Doni Burdick & The Fabulous Thunders - Faith - SIR

A personal gift from a man with whom I became good friends and so it has a lot of sentimental value. Its surreal telling my soulie mates who stay in my spare room that Doni Burdick stayed here lol. Maybe its not the worlds greatest dance track (its a cover of the Melvin Davis version on Mala ) but in terms of rarity its right up there - I only know of two copies and I've got one. A definite keeper.

I never used to like selling anything but now I'm more inclined to let things go to help fund things I really want - I'll be listing a few in sales this weekend :boxing:

Enjoy your weekend

Mike Bolderson

"The Drifter" on UK. Bit of a cliche tune now, but I love all those ones in the catalogue number. Also, it was a bit of a chase. The guy I bought it from nearly never quite got round to letting me have it even after I had paid for it. (All a very long time ago, but I well remember him and his rancid ilk :wicked: )

Agree on that one!

Just sublime.

For me I'd have to say Cajun Hart - Got to find a way W. Bros demo

Meant so much to me to find this on a car boot about 10 years ago for 50p

Close second is Otis Lee Hard roe to hoe Quaint

Took me so long to get and just sends shivers down the spine still

:wicked: However, sadly I am selling some personal bits from the collection. Need the money for house improvements. Wants welcome.....

But not my UK labels or Karmello Brooks / Lou Ragland / Ree Flores etc

There is a small list of about 60 "so far"

Best

i'm sure a few would fancy Lewise Bethune if you were selling it

record im sad i had to sell: Ernie Johnson on Artco, Natural Impulse on Natural Impulse, Eddie Foster on In

record i will never sell: Chuck Womack and the Sweet Souls on Ramco (acetate), Rhythm Machine LP on Lulu (test press), Chucky Thurmon on Thurmoe Blast

Mine is Jackie Wilson - Higher and Higher LP I wanted it so bad for the track Open the door to your heart and i got it. all i need now is the track on Aussie EP and i will be like so happy. it's the top of my wish list.

Jamie, You are not alone mate, there must be a load of people who, for one reason or another have been forced to sell up, me for one, but the pain does ease over time, honestly, chin up mate.

My deepest sympathies to you both, as I've been there myself. (Haven't you heard me loudly wailing over Stevens & Foster? - especially following the recent copy that sold in JM's auction!), not to mention Ujima and the Thompson Brothers...

shout.gif aaaaaaahhhhggghh! I said NOT to mention them!!!

They don't have to be rare soul sides either, as it's hard enough to get UK 70s soul releases back in mint condition these days, so I wouldn't part with these lightly either! Albums too. It took me over 20 years to find an unplayed UK Warner Bros. copy of "Don't Burn Me" by Paul Kelly, after I foolishly let my first copy go, so this one's staying put!
