What's the best set you've ever heard at a do, one that was so mind-blowingly good it's always stuck with you.

I've got a couple that spring instantly to mind:

Molly at the Brighton Volks alldayer a few years back - Molly was so up for it & so were the crowd that i'm sure that the room was actually shaking!

Steve Csordas at the Concorde Allnighter in Brighton a few months back - A few djs had gone on before & played perfectly respectable sets but Steve just came on & lifted it to a completely different level, i couldn't help but dance to every single record in his set (something i've very rarely ever done to anyones set), it was just all consuming.

Difficult to remember really, so many great sets, but for me so long ago, now.

Memorable nights at Wigan courtesy of Richard always stand out, but I can remember equally awesome sets from him at the Pendelum.

However I'd have to go with any Levine set at the Mecca following his return from his early buying trips to the States. The anticipation of what he was about to deliver as new finds was often unbelievable and he rarely disappointed.

Wasnt there that night Rob did his set but i do know for a fact there not his tunes "probably once was".Most people in the know no they are not his but is brother Chris Marriotts tunes.For the record Searlings sixth aniversary takes some beating "yes i was there"ask dean /soul sam at THE notts palais all dayers 1976-79... Mark Bicknells set at the attic the one deck set was awsome.Steve Ls lounge on ladybrook when we first got into Northern circa 1974-75 steve L had one of tha best northern soul collections for 1 weekend only he borrowed off "Chris Barks can anyone on soulsource remember him"? he had some awsome sounds.

Rod Dearlove at Yarmouth, about 10 years ago.

The lad had the balls to drop 3 incredible deep tracks, in succesion, around Midnight.

Cleared the floor... but he blew us all away nevertheless, .... and the dancefloor was rammed thereafter!

Definately the most memorable set ever (IMO).

With you on Richard Searling..his spot at the 6th anniversary was outstanding..the only reason i can remember that with such clarity is because i still have the tape i did that night at the Casino...also Chris King set at Hinckley..after Edwin Starr's appearance at the all nighter...absolutely rocked the roof off....Delxxx

Don't think anybody has mentioned his name yet, Mick Smith Nov 100 Club 1999... just played every record I wanted to hear and in virtually the right order..

Also when Ady Crosdell played 'Gettin to me' when Lavine was turning up at the 100 club, actually may have been after he was asked not to come back, anyhow Ady announced it, said "Lavine said he would have put it back and would have never played it, but we do etc..... " and the 100 club went F*** WILD!!!

the rest of the set was a blinder, but that one call to arms rallied everybody...

Gareth x at soul or Nothing 2005 launch night....He played Frank Hutson and took soul to another level...

Adam Lever at the 1st Soul revolution 2007... As Mik Parry said.."Adam was off the radar" for a soul set in the small back room.

Mace at Bidds all niter 2007...He did the last spot and the place really took off..All the right tunes to send the folk home happy,the sign of good dj who looks at the floor...

Nice to see the little mention of That Girl Lynn from Mikey...Quality indeed...

Many many more but my memory aint the best as some of you know... ...I salute all the djs(well most) who have given me the best times of my life on the dancefloor..

Just back from the states, bags full of newies, cover ups (some like Ruby Johnson were uncovered weeks later but so what) and underplayed Stafford spins. One enduring sound played that night was covered up as Little Beaver: I just can't speak (played to an almost empty floor may I add), can remember an animated, grinning Jocko running over asking WTF is this???

Apart from the obvious.... Searling at Wigan 1979-1981, the best and most consistent sets I remember were those by Poke at Cleethorpes 1977-1978, awesome records every time.

Nice seeing all the old faces...Dave Flynn on the dance floor. Do you remember those mods in Parkers & shades from America that came in looking for me. They were trying to look cool, but because it was so dark & they had shades on one fell over a chair.

I had it in with all my TOS stuff and Paul Dunne's photo was next to it so in my befuddled brain, I put two and two together...and thought it was his - DOH Sorry about that darlin' You do have very similar handwriting - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it I remember your mate filming - having to stand on the skanky sofas - and thought that was very snazzy to have a 'film crew' at TOS I can confirm you had hair - and that it was a stunning set Now all I have to do is find Paul's playlist Trust me to bollox things up Apologies all round. I was guest dj at the second ever TOS, Jo was the first and she stayed on as a resident - I was always a resident - it was Martin T, Paul TP and me that started the club. Matt Jahan was the first guest and you were the second....

anyway when I did that set I also had hair and I have photos to prove it - you still had some hair at TOS - Soul at the Seaside @ Llandudno...I've found the photos

When they asked me to do a second set some 3 years later - my hair had gone - men without hair are meant to be more virile....

I've heard some truly great sets over the years, and albeit I haven't been for a while, the 100 club regulars always did the business for continuity of excellent sets, and more recently the Burnley all-niter which for me on every occasion I've attended, I can honestly say I've enjoyed every single set I've heard and without patronising them I applaud both their enthusiasm and ability to put together well thought out sets which are fresh on the ear,(inclusive of all guests included to date) and makes the 6 hour round trip very very worthwhile.........

i would say almost every set Martin Stanford has done here when i see him is just something special aswell as Soul Sam

Not sure bout the full head of hair...its on its way!! I was sat on the stage at the 100 and Roger Banks came along and put his pint on it..thought it was a beer mat!!!

Best set ive ever heard..many stand out but will always remember Carl Willingham at Cleethorpes Weekender about 6am back in 2004 and Jumping Joan at 100 club,Hoss with his gritty RnS & Johnny Weston for not knowing whats next! Mark Bicknell(sheridans)and Keith Williams (marrs bar) for playing 'Make a Change'. Shifty was always awesome at 100 club,Carl Fortnum at Dome,Lifeline 'the entire dj rosta' over the whole weekend,gets no better than that!Steve Cato,Martin Harland and Pete Widdison round your gaff..soul education thanks

What's the best set you've ever heard at a do, one that was so mind-blowingly good it's always stuck with you.

I've got a couple that spring instantly to mind:

Molly at the Brighton Volks alldayer a few years back - Molly was so up for it & so were the crowd that i'm sure that the room was actually shaking!

Steve Csordas at the Concorde Allnighter in Brighton a few months back - A few djs had gone on before & played perfectly respectable sets but Steve just came on & lifted it to a completely different level, i couldn't help but dance to every single record in his set (something i've very rarely ever done to anyones set), it was just all consuming.

In recent time it has to be the set Kitch did a the DKOF gig a couple of months ago.

From the past has to be when Gary Spencer and Butch went head to head at the 100 Club many moons ago....The dogs dangly bits
