Hate is probably too strong a word but three songs which i regard as three major irritants are

1.case of tyme-manifesto

2.world column-so is the sun

3.the autumn of your tomorrow-the crow

I was blaming my job for my deafness and tinnitus ? it could have been those bags of sh*t all 3 a f**kin racket.

Not just handbaggers Mate, I see hardened soul fans knock chairs out he way to dance to this shit! Sorry to be blunt, but bob Sinclair and soul should not be in the same sentence!

Please can we see an end to jocks playing this Ibiza club tune?

It was played a couple of times in the crazy horse[n/s venue] at Butlins the floor was rammed I sat there thinking I must be in a minority. it's too long and I would have said a modern disco record but your Ibiza tune is about right.

you were in a minority of 2, me & you i reckon

when you think of all the great records that dont get played :(

‘Doug Banks - Ain’t That Just Like A Woman’

That ‘Pow Wow’ thing?

‘Ike and Tina Turner - Dust My Broom’

All god awful tunes - My Opinion (without the 'humble' I’m afraid) Tis the Topic! :D

These are things I’ve always hated and not ‘used to like, but gone off now’

All the best,

Len

P.s - Yes, and that awful ‘Catch That Tear Drop’ (Just backing Dundee Davie’s post)….Just realised - From 12th Jan! lol - Only just seen this thread :D

Just two for me! The Snake .... that record can nearly spoil a night for me! The other being Break away. Can't really think of another .... So many Good tunes out there!

‘Doug Banks - Ain’t That Just Like A Woman’

Good call. Musical torture.

C.O.D's - She's Fire

Rita Dacosta - Don't Bring Me Down

Four Chaps - Will Ya Or Won't Ya

The last three tunes played by the DJ who precedes

Julian Bentley on the rosta.

kegsy

Majestics - (I Love Her So Much) It Hurts Me

I do not see how people like this. It is horrible, the horrible horn's in the background. Hate it

The snake -grrrr, soul in the sun- drat, chills & fever - nooooo

ah i thought the snake was you fav tune o go on you know you love it

Having thought about it. Fortune Teller grates on me, along with I Travel Alone. Time marches On, is just piss poor.

Do you know what? This one has always confused me, for some reason I feel I shouldn't like it, but I absolutely love it, maybe it's to do with 'the memories' - K.F.C! :D

All the best,

Len

No, thts is a different sittuation. The Lou Ragland song just grates on me a bit, but i played it to death and it just annoys me now. I dont hate them, but i cant listen to them.

You could be right. Lots of records sound ten times better loud.

But I just played Time Marches On and it still tugs at the heartstrings and sounds as good on the mp3 as it did at the casino.

That was 37 years ago though. My God.

Just shows you don't it.I've never raved over Lou Ragland.Never quite got the buzz from it.Folks keep/kept telling me i should but it doesn't hit the spot for me.

Edited by KevH

my nominations are

drifters you got to pay your dues, sounds like something from musical theatre ,very camp

sidney barnes standing on solid ground, hi energy disco

bobby kline, say something nice, nothing nice to say really

well described !! awful records

Yeah, that sums it up for me. It doesnt hit the spot, but i've heard it so many times it irks me a bit. I prefer the more dramatic tunes, and i dont think this has that much drama TBH.

well described !! awful records

Absolutely agree about Bobby Kline but you should see some of the abuse I've had in the past for saying it! That's one that really divides people's opinion.

I like Bobby Kilne - say somthing nice to me :P

What is wrong with it?

You can't get more dramatic than those awesome strings in 'I Travel Alone'. It just takes you somewhere far away when you you hear them.

Liam you don't like The Majestics.

How can I begin to explain anything to you?

Horrible sound

Its not lacking drama.Maybe got too much.

My three most hated tunes are:-

Nolan Porter If I could only be sure

If I could only be sure Nolan Porter

AND

that awful Three Dog Night sounding rubbish by that guy who did "Keep on keepin' on"

ROD

Whilst there are numerous tunes I've heard over the years that I wish I hadn't, I do appreciate that taste is individual, however apart from the obvious cringeworthy classics :wicked: .....three that annoy me from a personal perspective, and in no particular order , are Burning Bush, Tim Tam & Turn ons, and Muriel Day, and seek forgiveness for omitting the shite I've overlooked :wink:

Its not lacking drama.Maybe got too much.

TBH I don't know what I'm rambling on about, but it doesn't do it for me. But, don't let me stop the folk who do enjoy it. :D.

a bit off topic ,but did they change the title of i travel alone from travelling man cos it was released the same week as stevie wonders travelling man sure i heard that somewhere in the early hours of a sunday morning , or imagined it in a hyper state

Great thread, although i'm not in the uk and not so frequent on northern nights i would say:

Futures - party time man (sounds like the benny hill intro but worse in quality)

Frank Wilson - do i love you (without rarity its just some 60s aerobics disco track)

Brooks bros (never did like the rolling stones..)

Most records in the R&B category..

Just had a listen to millie jackson for the first time in yonks still think it sounds grand memories of notts pallis Dayers OK

seems to be alot of...i hate them cause they have been played to death or cheesy oldies.

im finding it hard to think of 3 i can say i hate with a passion.thats cause so many tunes i love, have made me forget about ones that were in my mind for prob a few seconds.

alot of the ones mentioned like ruby andrews, the snake etc.i agree played to death.but i was 14 & loved the snake & started my love of northern.ive had ruby's record 4 times & first time i heard it in 89,wow.it also holds alot of memories for me.i might not want to hear them so much, but i cant say i hate them.

what im trying to say is i dont think its a hate thing for most,im sure you all liked most of them @ some point.

im not talking about the ones that people have hated since day one.you hate them, end of,lol.

ive just rememberd 3ish i do hate tho, lol.

1 IRT EXPRESS / SAVE OUR CITY NOW (was @ a niter 86/87 in broadhill bar aberdeen & my mate kept goin on about this record called EAST SIDE WEST SIDE.then all of a sudden it came on... he said this it,he & everyone else ran up to the dancefloor.heard the first line east side west side & thot ok.then after that what a heap of crap.)

2 SKULL SNAPS / IM YOUR PIMP (sorry but dont get this @ all.quite simply i hate it).

3(joint 3rd places) HUMAN BEINZ / NOBODY BUT ME & MIKE POST / AFTERNOON OF THE RHINO & NEW WORLD / WERE GONNA MAKE IT(more dislike than hate)

not bad out of the thousands & thousand & thousands i have heard & like.

What I really hate is......

The awesome soulful as you like under rated rare 45's that the DJ is playing...

( If I haven't got them in my play box )

Only joking.... (Ish )

:-)

Frank Wilson - do i love you (without rarity its just some 60s aerobics disco track)

With or without rarity one of the greatest things ever recorded and anyone who says to the contrary needs psychiatric help. If you could explain exactly what is wrong with this track, please do. Oh is that awful Funk Brothers group playing the music, or the terrible vocals of Frank Wilson, or the rubbish tune and lyrics?

Dead easy for people to say that something they've heard a million times is crap, but if you heard that record for the first and only time you would be knocked off your feet and begging to hear it again. Even just that inro, when it builds, the anticipation that it's going to deliver the goods and BAM it sure does...

Pete, I wouldn't go as far as to say "one of the greatest things ever recorded" but in general I've gotta agree with ya on this mate.
