Better Without The Vocals

Len; I was 197... whatever - had the red one from Soul Bowl. Had the white one (from Colin, when he stopped playing it) nice, but once you know the vocal exists....

Yes, fully understand, and that's the way I would be normally.....but for some reason it's the other way round for me on this - can't really explain why, it just is  .........It's just me on this isn't it? :D

All the best,

Len

I get the northern fascination with instrumentals, and in some case they work, but Jesse Fisher without Jesse Fisher? Lew Kirton without Lew Kirton? c'mon guys! Liberty without Liberty though - no brainer as Kev Bacon would say!

ps" I miss my baby" vs. "Bari track"? When you hear either, as you step onto the dance floor it's like throwing yourself off a cliff - exhilarating!

THE NEWER VERSION IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT DISCOVERED BY ADY AND ON THE PIED PIPER CD IS FANTASTIC

Did once play at a soul night the inst side of Lew Kirton-Heaven In The Afternoon by mistake & Tom Paddison couldn't stop laughing after he said "ohhh good the karaoke version" :(

Played this on purpose at my last spot, A few folk told me that they preferred it to the vocal.

IF I HAD MY WAY - TROY KEYES - VMP.   INST.

First played as an instrumental on the scene, and better dancer than the vocal in my opinion!

Remember Dave Mcadden(RIP) writing about Russ having a machine to take the vocals off any track at the Casino..

Obviously a piss take-but there were a lot of instrumentals doing the rounds at the time.

Still got the mag somewhere.

Don't know about a machine, but maybe 20 years ago or so I was heavily into electronics, well still am but less time on my hands now  :)

anyway I used to buy a lot of electronic mags and remember a circuit in one of them to remove vocals from tracks,

because it used a lot of passive filters in the circuit it lost a bit of sound quality.

I would think that nowadays it could be done digitally/ electronicly without quality loss.

Now where did I put that soldering iron ?

I'm sure Glen Bellamy was doing this sort of thing years ago (Somehow)

Probably 8 times out of ten I would favour vocals.Interestingly though,

World of Happiness I like equally as much as Birdwalking... both lovely tunes.

Now then, was there 3 versions of W.O.H....

Cindy Scott

Ann Robinson

& Shirley Turner

I stand corrected
