It seems to me that the dance floors have come a long way what does anybody think.Β

The one that I remember that was a total bliss, was the memorial hall in Wrexham, that was a soullies dream. The dodgy one was at Blackpool ballroom with loose bits of wood, and my wife went head over heels and broke her wristΒ

The dance floor at The Wrexham Memorial HallΒ is still as good as ever. Then Broughton Wings a close second.

Don’t forget the wet patches from spilt drinks that make your shuffle stop dead in your tracks .Β

I'm biased but Winsford civic centre took some beating,  Nantwich civic,  Lowton civic,  there's a theme developing here. 😁

Seem to recall previous thread(s)Β on this .....

North Yorkshire Soul Club's venue , the Riley Smith Hall,Β  got a mention on one for its large sprung dance floor .Β

Norte dame hall in London had a beautiful floor

KGB Sheffield - it was a full time dance (take ur kids there) centre although those full walled mirrors did ur head in - as that person was always staring back at you - 😳

Kierby Hotel in Burnley was a great little sprung floor, apart from one corner that was more like a trampoline.

Β

Notts palias up till they changed it in the early 90s, sherwood rooms Notts, both had massive full sprung floors.Β

As well as these I’d have to add Orrell Park Ballroom and The Litherland town hall.

Okey club Keighley,Β Riley Smith Hall Tadcaster, Monaco Wigan and Grosvenor Rooms Sutton in Ashfield Β all great dancing floors and venues.

Mister M’s was better than the main room at Wigan. Manchester Ritz was good fun - you let the floor move you so dancing was effortless. Any wooden floor for me, especially with talc in a spot or two. Hated Marley tiles and painted concrete floors.

Ritz Manchester in the 70's when the dance floor was raised up, and the 'heart of England soul club' logo was suspended over the middle. You could be stood at the bar and still feel the bounce. The halcyon days when having a 1000 + attendance was the norm.

Civic centres had the best dance floors. Heywood being one of them.

Love the Longfield Suite at Prestwich. Think that is a civic one too?πŸ€”

The Callis Waudby Ballroom in Hull back in the day was a lovely Dance floor.Β DJ'd there many times and did my Β thing on the Dance floor (wish i was as agile now) Just Fragile these Days, Was one of those Soul NitesΒ you could get away playing just aboutΒ anything and was alwaysΒ appreciatedΒ πŸ™‚

Notts Palais was good upstairs and the revolving dancefloor downstairs The Bali Hi back in the dayΒ

The California ballroom,, Dunstable, so many greatΒ dance floors on all different levels ,, but I still loved the Devils DenΒ

Agree with every one of them. Brilliant floors on which to spend an evening.
