One song that never really did it for me was "Pony Time" -- that certainly inspired quite a few cover versions in very quick succession after Don Covay's group's original effort ... 

Can't remember the artist but always liked the female version of ' got to get you into my life' on scepter, if I remember correctly.

" Till There Was You " by the Beatles was also a cover version of an old 1950 recording by Meredith Willson & his Orchestra & Eileen Wilson ( on vocals ) titled " Till I Met You , on Decca , the only difference is the wording .

But can't find the other , unreleased shrine recording " I Wanna Hold Your Hand " , I know people might squirm but there have been quite a few of the Beatles ( Lennon & McCartney) tunes covered my favourite is, JJ Barnes , Day Tripper

If you where there at the Casino when this was packing the floor , and then released on a Disco Demand 45 , what a tune so atmospheric and still no version better Ila Van , Can't Help Loving That Man Of Mine , check out the record credits they go all the way back to 1928 , Helen Morgan , from the musical "Showboat " written by Oscar Hammerstein & Jerome Kern , a little bit Doctor Who don't you think , imagine if they had a time machine , " Why are all these kids up so late , wide awake and dancing shouldn't they be at home in bed " lol

Nice, new to me, second time in two days on this thread that someones posted a different version of a Jr Walker track which made me think how easy we forget the obvious ones as no one though i could have missed it posted Jr's What Does it Take on the best intro thread. Was looky enough to see this guy performing in Rhyl about 75ish .

Wayne Fontana ,we popped over for the night like you used to in those days from Blackpool , Bob Blackwood , Howard Wilson , Rob Laird ,Tony etc , in What was then the vehicle to own , a real cruiser , A Toyota Crown Custom , and was treated to a wonderful set of blue eyed soul , this tune amongst so many soul classics stood  out like no other , and what a tune , I was only 17teen at the time but what a lasting impression,,,,,

Alan Price had good taste in music. He liked his soul, so the Alan Price Set's initial four UK singles included his covers of "Any Day Now", "I Put A Spell On You" & "Yours Until Tomorrow". While an EP from the group released in France during  the same time period featured "Barefootin", "Have Mercy" & "Getting Mighty Crowded".
