November 28, 200816 yr hm, never really took noticed of who wrote my fave tunes but will do in the future. Not in soul music, but in general the best songwriters were Bacharach/David. Period.
November 28, 200816 yr who was the best song writer of our wonderful music we all enjoy There were some great writing teams out there at the time who consistently churned out the music we love, examples being :- Wylie/ Hester Gamble/Huff Mcfadden/Whitehead Holland/Dozier/Holland Hutson/Hawkins Whitfield/Strong Callier/Stepney Hayes/Porter all of the above wrote a number of gems, I am sure someone can compile another list of teams, then you have the likes of Leon Ware, Frankie Beverley, Marvin Gay, Smokey Robinson and the list goes on, but I am going to plump for the aforementioned SAM DEES as (twist my arm) my fave Kev
