I've never owned one but would love one. I've had the chance on numerous occasions but always thought the condition of the ones on offer was pants. It's mammoth. It's Northern soul all over. It's Detroit, it's by 'unknown' people, it's fookin' brilliant! If I had $4716 hanging around in my vinyl paypal account I'm yer man. unfortunately I have to settle for The Lovelites - Bumpy Road Ahead - Lovelite Issue for today's addition to the shelves. Geoff Whitfield Posted June 4, 2012 Share Posted June 4, 2012 Just a snippet of info from me on the Tomanogoes, I was in Detroit in the late 80's/ early 90's with my mate Gene Merideth and we were in Ron Murphys shop and Gino Washinton was in there (he told us he owned the Washpan label) he had an ad from a local detroit newspaper offering $100 for a copy of this record, i believe the ad was placed by Ady pierce. He told us he had a 100 of them at his house, we said could we buy some? he said we could, so we went round the same night. we bought 2 at a $100 each, he would not let us see the amount he had, he went into another room and brought the 2 out, i asked for another copy as one of the one's he brought out was pretty rough,he swapped my copy, we spent about an hour there chatting and he told us about his career, but i cannot remember much at all, i sold my copy in the late 90's for i think £350 to Ian Cunliffes' mate(apologies for forgetting you name) cheers Geoff 2 Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

It sounded fantastic and to see a floor 'going for it' to this tune was great after so many years. (I don't get out much so this was my first hearing for some considerable time at a venue. ) He played Eddie Parker to finish - likewise so rare. Did i not hear that somewhere at a northern do they had cameras above the decks to show weather original vinyl was being played. Exactly Pete, I thought for the majority of people attending soul events it was all about the music!!!!!!!!!!. Although i would not want this thread to degenerate (again!) into an OVO versus Pressings versus CDs etc,etc. Still an absolutely fantastic classic SOUL tune regardless of what medium it is heard on and fair play to the person who bought the record, i hope they get many hours of pleasure from playing it. Can't understand why many ordinary punters would be that bothered and why the promoter in the camera scenario thought it would make the slightest difference :g: .
