This is incredibly sad news, a true soul brother in every sense. It seems like only yesterday we were teenagers covering records up and sharing new discoveries.

Hard to believe the news, RIP you will be greatly missed.

Another strand broken in the Staffordshire Knot. The mould was broken with Shute. Seems no time since Kev, John Fisher & me were raising the roof at Stafford Rangers FC as the 3Bs Soul Club - Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered! Knowledgeable, gregarious & trusting, a true soul man in every manner. A really sad loss to what is be coming an increasingly depleted scene. Rest well comrade.

I looked after Shute on several occasions when he was admitted to hospital and it took a random comment from him before I realised who he was, despite the fact we'd probably rubbed shoulders many times over the years.

Rest in peace Sir♥️👍

Was a bit of a shock to the system this morning learning that Kev Johnson aka (Shute) had passed away  from a post i'd seen on FB

Shute was a great guy & friend we had many chats about records

He loved the music  & he will be sadley missed by all who had connections to him through the years

Condolences to his family & friends

I know very few members on here in the real world. Shute and I joined the same year however and he always struck me as an interesting and informed member when he posted.

Much respect to you sir. RIP.

After we called time on our nights at Stafford Rangers, I used to meet him and Gaz Duncan for a drink in Perkins club every Monday night.

Shute always had a tale or two to tell, and he had a great sense of humour...........one night he comes in with a face like thunder and says he's just run into the back of a car, which it turns out was being driven by a dwarf. Shute asks him if he's ok and the little fellows replies that he's not happy ....... with a stupid grin on his face Shute then says he  asked him "well if your not happy, which one are you" ?

Not seen him for a while, but he will be sadly missed, RIP Kev, condolences to Angela and his family.

Condolences to his family and friends

Last time I saw him was at the Royal Stoke Hospital about 18 months ago. It seemed strange to see him somewhere that wasn't a venue. I didn't know him personally, but recognised him from The Old Vic in the late eighties.
