Pure class Mark, love it. Always thought a great ender was Bessie Banks - Go Now - Soul City - never hear it though!!

Lenny always finishes the welly nights with the O'jays - I love music.

Always thought that was a nice touch, everyone leaves feeling very optomistic.

Mark Tobin's nights at Stockport started around 92. His first night ended with Jackie Lee, Oh My Darling. What a way to finish!

Almeta Lattimore - These memories

Sandra Wright - I come running back

I ended my motown night the other week with Marvin Gayes Let's Get It On. As for a northern ender, for me it would have to be Ray Pollard and The Drifter. wink.gif

Arthur Alexander!!

At the last Ritz-Allnighter in Manchester a couple of years ago Bob Hinsley finished the nighter with Jerry Butlers Stop Steppin On My Dreams..Brilliant

And as mentioned on a previous thread he also played Jimmy Cobb 'So That Nobody Else Will Hear' Superb!

It was always gonna be a toss up between this and Terry Callier 'Ordinary Joe' as the ender at Saints Club in St Helens the latter won and anyone who went there will know what that meant.

BazM

Dee Irwin - you satisfy my needs-

Class

Beat me to it......Fantastic!

My current fave for an ender is Arthur Alexander 'Show Me The Way'

Brings back a few memories of Tony Empress ballroom in the 9ts in Blackburn. What a tune played it the other day at home for first time in years. Love it. Proper crooner type soul.

At the West End Soul Club in Coalville we always ended with Ray Pollard - the Drifter

thumbsup.gif Another Brian Rae ender at Wigan Maximes early 80's....just heart wrenching.

Some great enders mentioned already on here guys, - The Drifter, Arthur Farter Alexander, Big Dee Irwin, Johnnie Mae, Archie Drell & The Bells, even Dean Parrish - in fact part of me would like to do a whole hour of "enders" but I know I could never get away with it..>Steve

Last track we always finish the Cracker off with is Timi Yuro "It'll never be over for me". Excellent sentiment and a great wind down track. However we do tend to play one or two fast ones after this just as the dancers think its over and time to go home. Oops! thats let the cat out of the bag, they'll be waiting for it now.

Regards

kev

last tracks for me or george freeman down and out ;jack montgomery dont turn your back on me

some tracks i used as enders over the years:

little anthony - hurt so bad

george freeman - down and out

lil' willie west - don't be ashamed to cry

esther philips - just say goodbye

dee dee warwick - i can't go back

and currently for our bi-weekly 6Ts/mod night:

bob mcfadden - the beat generation OR

small faces - tin soldier

Big Maybelle - Oh Lord What Are You Doing To Me.

Almost makes me cry that one

Absolute perfection. Another one just as moving from Big M is "Put yourself in my place" from the scepter album "The Soul of Big Maybelle".

Best ending I heard was at a local Soul night in Doncaster,

"That's it you've had your lot, you should have finished 15 minutes ago, if you don't take the record off I'm pulling the plug." wanker.gif

And she did, yes while the record was playing & it had the desired effect & stopped the night in it's tracks. The Dj as you can imagine was not a happy bunny. ranting_1.gif

Take care & be safe & keep dancing while ever the music plays,

Spot. shades.gif
