I personally don't get it but I'm sure a lot do. The music is OK but where does it fit in with the canon? Wondering what the esteemed collectives' thoughts are on this kind of stuff?

Sound bites and opinions invited!

  • A little bit goes a long way in my opinion. A bit like R&B. Usually the same ones each time. The problem comes when a DJ decides to play half a dozen following each other.

    Loved this for yonks   Ed

  • Latin beats have allways been a part of it all as long as I can remember , more valid in my view than a lot of blue eyed soul that gets played

I was lucky enough to get the last year of Stafford and was introduced to the Latin sounds that were big at that time , Spanish Maiden , Bobby Valentin , etc and more importantly the above which was a big tune mid eighties tune in Scotland on the scene

I haven’t known anything else as for me they have been around on the scene as long as I have ! However I can imagine the Wigan crowd at that time walking off the dance floors in droves !!!

But I guess that is why the scene is so forward thinking and diverse with dj’s taking the risk and seeing the dance floor reaction , don’t get me wrong there’s still a lot of dross played out there !!

      Hector Riviera very cool

Pow wow not to keen on that

Willie bobo Aint to proud to beg

Only bought this 30 years ago for a few pound's because of the label. 😎 then it ended up being quite a sort after tune

This is wicked .

I've wanted a copy of this for absolutely ages but whenever it appears for sale it's way too overpriced for me.

I've always liked this - Chollo Rivera and the Latin Soul Drivers - Black and Blues - Cotique

Bonus is that the flip 'I could never hurt you girl' is a nice crossover tune.

Adam.

Did a mix of a load of it....love it but i don't like it at soul nights if that makes sense. I am really into the heavier stuff....descargas/mambos etc

Any of these are a much welcome change to endless repeats of Marlena Shaw  Lets Wade in the Water

Loved this for ages but someone in Mexico seems to be buying them up and charging enough to fund a small army.
