JM is quoting half price sale on all listed records , what’s your thoughts? 
Are they overpriced to start or am I being cynical 

First order 20 records. 18 turned up Not all of those came as ordered so will be going back for refund.Second order 12 records.We will see how many arrive and how accurate they are.Everything I ordered bar one was some form of M- .

If I’d known on 27th Dec I was putting out £4,500 on a long term loan I might have thought twice.😀 Luckily for me the first order was majority cost wise so have the money for my new boiler.

Not having the items.Not sending the right items.Not keeping control of his stock wherever it is is obviously my fault.I am a bad customer!!! I just should be grateful that I had the opportunity to buy from his half price sale which made most items affordable and buy items I didn’t get from his gazillions of records in storage.

Im off to lay prone at the altar of Johnny MANSHIP.

Actually you knew you full well you were spending the money outright on records , not lending anyone anything.

At this moment I do not see any alternative,other than cancelling the order, I get everyone's frustration but John is not a fly by night and with patience and a bit more tolerance all will end well probably with not as many records as expected but fully refunded for the missing ones.

tbf, if you'd ordered weeks ago on discogs and not heard back yet, you'd also be waiting for your 50% refund, so the loan comment kind of checks out as far as discogs goes. The website had a code for the half off, it isn't Manship's fault that discogs doesn't offer a similar system at check out, though this isn't the main cause for the griping here in any case

As already said postage cost is high. I have hardly ever bought from JM so don't know if this is normal. 

I initially had 9 items in the basket (half price value just under £100, I don't buy big ticket items!) and postage was set at £15.95 or £16.95 with £100 insurance.

I reduced to 8 items and postage reduced by £1, reduced to 7 items and postage reduced by a further £2 to £12.95. There is clearly an algorithm behind it based on number of items but it isn't any sort of  accurate reflection of value and weight, and it is quite possibly also based on out of date postage prices.

You can buy 1st class tracked with signature and £150 insurance for £5.65 (on line price small parcel up to 2kg). Add, say £1 for packing material (cardboard is expensive nowadays but as a business he will be buying in bulk so maybe less than that), so postage is being marked up  approx. 100% to cover labour packing cost and transport to sorting office (although RM can collect nowadays), or is it an algorithm that just keeps on giving (from JM's perspective)?  

Still, at half price the prices are acceptable. Will just have to be patient for delivery as he obviously has his hands full.

   

To be fair to John ... my 45's from him took a while to arrive ... BUT I also ordered a few things from a Discogs dealer in Canada a few days later. It took him almost 7 days to even acknowledge my order ... guess we shouldn't expect too speedy a service over the Xmas / New Year period.

John has said the postage is a discogs thing and he will adjust the postage as they come to the order to suit the order.

Although my order was made thru his website.

Also I haven't had an email order confirmation, I would have thought that would have been automatic.

Fair play to John for putting these updates out.

So which "stock list" is the most accurate do you think - his website or Discogs? I found a few things on Discogs that weren't on his website so I assumed he was updating his website first.

For those who are about to start bleating about not doing FB.

 

 

 

That video really sums up the task John and his team have, hopefully people will give him time get the records out and not get too angry about the situation.

It's worth remembering that (like most of us on here) John is no spring chicken.

I don't know him, but having just watched that video, the stress of the situation appears to be etched on his face.

It's nothing new, he does it all the time! Tries to belittle individuals  at the first opportunity with his silly little emoji's....try being kind and say something nice for a change!!

Anybody received an order from the site from the 28th december.

My order was january 9th and I'm patiently waiting as I can imagine he has a lot orders to fullfill. I'm only worried that not all records of my order might be available because some of them were listed on multiple websites. I wonder which orders he prefers - Discogs or orders on his website. With orders on his website he can save the Discogs fees, but if someone orders on Discogs and the record is not available, he can get negative feedback, which can't happen with orders on his website. I've decided to purchase all of them from his website to safe him those extra fees from Discogs .

On a positive note, followed John's video advice yesterday, called Stella, order from early Jan thru Discogs confirmed as complete, advised pulled and ready to ship...shipping advice received today, 50% discount refund advised, no dramas, happy bunny... 👍

I have had the same experience.  30th December order still pending, but my 13th Jan order has been shipped. I suggest you call Stella as others have in their posts above.  It sounds like it’s the only way to expedite orders.   I’m going to do the same. 

I called up yesterday and spoke to the always helpful Stella. Both orders (28/12 and 06/01) arrived today in one parcel with a p&p refund. Well worth the wait!

Is calling the only way to get your order processed now? I've got two orders made through the website from the 27th and 29th of December that are still in a 'processing' status.

Seems like calling is the only way to expedite your order.  Otherwise the only other option is patience, which is not easy after waiting almost a month. 🙄

Great post, after all the negativity, positivity seems to be the main reason for people posting on here now regarding the sale.

Good that orders are now getting through after all the hard work John and his team have to put in.

I'm still patiently waiting for my order from early January and I'd like to know what orders he fulfills if a record was ordered on his site that was also available on Discogs and purchased at the same time by different buyers.
I ordered on his site to save him the Discogs fees, and I would go crazy if he prioritizes fulfilling Discogs orders because of the buyer ratings you can give on Discogs but not on his site.
Does anyone know how he handles this?

They are super busy still. He still has over 1200 orders to weed thru. Now the sale has ended I expect things to start speeding up more but may still take another 2 weeks to get thru the backlog

Waiting patiently for an order placed on January 13th for just the one record from his website ,as it is still listed as available fingers crossed it will eventually be sorted.

Had a couple of oustanding orders from the 6th,7th & 8th of January. Waited patiently until last Wednesday when I gave them a call, spoke with Stella and she confirmed everything would be shipped by Friday. On Thursday I had a call from John himself explaining that one record was out of stock and another had an issue with the label. He offered me a full refund or a further discount if I still wanted it.... bearing in mind that I don't know him let alone have never spoken to him, he found the time to call. Bottom line is, as frustrating as the wait can be they're obviously snowed under. Personally I can't fault him even if others don't share that view.

I'm from germany and I don't feel like my english is fluent enough for a phone call.

Half the order missing and what has arrived enjoys the benefit of the highly dubious grading I so fondly recall from my last encounter in 2009.

I get the feeling the other half of my order went to someone who ordered from Discogs, where a grumpy note of discontent can be left.
 

To be fair they resolved quickly once I chased but that was a month later.  

Alls ish that ends ish.  I note my diary for 2040 when I’ll most likely next make an order. 

I have had four items all graded vg+ but most other dealers would grade EX or M-, more than happy with mine.

I had an issue with my order upon receipt, which I contacted them about. John contacted me directly within hours to offer a solution. I was expecting to wait days or weeks to hear back since I'm aware they're still inundated with orders, phone calls, and emails, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Well I ordered 11 records on the 27th December and received 8 - all of which were graded as M-

5 of them weren't M- in my opinion so I returned them and they arrived back there 9 days ago but no sign of my refund yet (yes I have rung up) 

Almost 6 weeks and I'm not sorted out yet, not really satisfactory from someone of Johns standing - very disappointing experience

...why naive?... I ordered a few long(ish ) time wants... not super rare, but  I knew they were on Johns site and Discogs, but I've not got deep pockets so beyond what I was willing to pay...50% off sorted that... records arrived (ok not instantly, but Ive been hunting a copy for a long time...so what's an extra couple of weeks, he also called to say sorry for the delay)  and in the condition stated...I'm happy...
