Saturday June 26th sees the last Bury Virtual All Nighter as we all hopefully look forward to getting back to live events. Respect to Simon for having the vision and drive to create what has become a bit of a cult following and kept us in touch with each other and the music which is what is was always about with the basic ethos, created at Bury, quality Soul Music regardless of monetary value.

Baz M has summed the whole experience up perfectly, hope you can join us on our final instalment of what has been a hell of a ride, in the words of one of our regular DJs Ian C "peace and love and happiness" !!

Hi one and all, just to let you know this Saturday sees the last of the regular, monthly Bury Town Hall Virtual All-Nighter (BVAN) online sessions.

Having run from March 2020, through all the various lock downs and welcomed over 4200 members to the Facebook group, set up to publicise the events, we have decided that it’s time to plan for the return of the BURY TOWN HALL ALL-NIGHTERS. So, the resident DJ’s invite you to join us THIS SATURDAY 26th JUNE on Radio King and Mixcloud for the last BVAN weekly show. The show will run from 8pm through to 2am (maybe later) and will feature some of the sounds you’ll hear when we get back to Bury, hopefully, very soon

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all those people who have ‘tuned in’ to the BVAN shows, it’s been fantastic! Special thanks to all the people who have joined in the various ‘chats’ on Radio King, Mixcloud, Facebook and Soul Source and all the people who have posted a superb selection of music on the Bury Town Hall Virtual All-Nighter Facebook group. Last, but not least, thanks all the DJ’s who have entertained us with top quality tuneage over the past year and a bit

In the meantime best wishes and STAY SAFE

The BVAN Team

As you may be aware we normally do not encourage event discussion in this our main forums as event talk can over run the forum.

We normally encourage members to use the event guide comments as the place for such discussion

However as this series of 'lockdown' online events was a complete one off, we made an exception and let the topic run in this forum.

As the topic is now quiet after a week or so running then feel it's now time to close the topic and go back to our normal policy

A just so aware what's going on post👍

Hats off to all involved

God only knows what idea will pop in to Simon's head next whilst walking his dog. We can only wonder

This particular idea 'snowballed', and gave so many of us not only much enjoyment, but a real 'escape' from what was going on in the world.

Thanks to all involved, and for the encouragement and enthusiasm from all the listeners that kept this thing going.

'See' you tonight

A massive thanks from us to everyone involved.

Our BVAN journey has been special. Genuine people genuine soulies, the "new to me" has been amazing.

We were fortunate enough to find Bury Virtual All-nighter right at the beginning, what we imagined would be a few weeks escalated into months.

BVAN evolved and definitely kept us going. "Our little gem". Hope to see you on the dancefloor, hopefully sometime soon.

all the best The Jackos.

                BVAN!!!

Saturday night's will not be the same again, me and Lorraine looked forward to this event every week with friends old and new, the music, the banter, getting to do our own little request spots and lots of new to us tunes, it's been brilliant!!!

Thanks to Simon and the team for putting it together and to all the regulars in the RadioKing chat room, can't wait to see you all out and about.

Ste 😊

Respect to Simon and everyone for BVAN.  Music has been the only outlet for many through these strange and often for some difficult times.  BVAN has been one constant through it all, either with the monthly specials, specials or reloops.

The banter has been great the times I've got involved which wasn't as often as I liked due to work, falling asleep cause of work 🙄 or the fact I can't sit down or still long enough 🤣

Hopefully we will be out and about soon and can hopefully fill the place in Bury as a massive thank you to Simon.

Len....Simon and I will be walking 24km on Kinder Scout shortly...who knows what ideas will spring from that walk 🤣

I must start by saying a massive thank you to everyone who has given their time to make BVAN such a first class event.

Thanks also for making me feel welcome on the thread and your kind comments on my music choices.

Although I am looking forward to getting back out, I will honestly miss tuning in every Saturday.

It has been an education, an inspiration and a crutch.

Well done 👏.

I can only echo what’s already been said. BVAN has been fantastic over the past 15 months. The DJs giving us sets that constantly have me reaching for Discogs or thinking “Ooh I think I’ve got this, why haven’t I played this more?” The banter in the chat rooms, Len’s sausage gun story still makes me chuckle.

Massive thanks to the BVAN team for all your efforts.

Catch you tonight

A fitting finale to a monumental project, job done!! All sets delivered, warming us up for when we can hopefully start back with live sets. It's been a blast,I'm sure we can document the final night's sets for posterity.

Feel free to add your thoughts and comments from over the last fifteen months, who can forget "The Lost Wigan Tape"!! What a night that was, catch up real soon!!

Thank you so much for all the love and effort put in!! Last night's final instalment was absolutely great, really enjoyed it!

A big thanks goes out to all involved, the ones behind the scenes, the DJs and everyone who tuned in over the last 15 or so months

BVA has been an inspiration and education.
Met (virtually) so many great people; it now feels like I have known them forever.
So many new tunes to chase and the great thing is not all are mega $$$$$$
You have to know 'em to chase 'em and loads are cheap (at the mo).
So much effort by the Crew for BVA to happen for so long a time - thank you very much for your hard work; it has been a ball !

Much respect - Tom.

BVAN what can you say but superb stuff. From the early nites sat round the fire in the garden to sat by the pc in the later stages. Walking round the fields with bvan keeping me company, sneaky listening in, in the company of others,  its been a staple diet over the last 15 months.  Thanks for playing the requests and a thrill to be asked to choose some tracks for the SS nite. Just a quiet punter who loves a nite of great music. Thanks to all involved and hope to catch up sometime

Many thanks to the organisers and all involved in this excellent event. Apart from costing me a fortune it's been a great education. Eventually once we're able to travel and attend events again I look forward to saying thanks in person. Without question it's been one of the outstanding features of this otherwise worrying and frustrating time. Well done and much respect to everyone concerned.

I'll just add, superb musical entertainment, over a long period  of time delivered with passion under difficult times! Massive plaudits to Simon Ingham for initiating the concept, and the BVAN team along with the "chatroom crew" for making Saturday Evenings Exceptional!

Thank You Sincerely

First of all many thanks to Simon for putting up the playlists at the weekend.  As per normal I crashed out between 12:00 and 13:00 but I now have sets I can create whenever I fancy a singular BVAN reunion.

I would then thank Simon again for the idea that spawned this phenomenon.

Then fellow Aldershotonian Pete C for pointing me in the direction of BVAN.

Lastly but not least everyone who has played such a diverse selection of aural delights, a large number of which were new to me and blew me away.  Luckily my bank balance isn't suffering as much as some as I have still succumbe and added to my collection, probably a good idea as there would be one massive wants list, though as has been said many of these would be cheap as chips.

Finally a massive thanks to my fellow request selectors and radioking banterers who have helped to give the nights a true sense of shared knowledge, passion, fun, wit (queue Len) and sense of togetherness.

I love Simon's idea of an online anniversary, date already in the diary.

Although I am unlikely to be there, due to distance, I would like to wish you a cracking first night when you do open up again and suggest a fans warm up session/guest slot.

P.s Simon/Chalky/Len if the walk is for charity can you post a link for donations.

Keep it Soulful and Take It Easy

I will be with you guys in spirit.  Love it up on Kinder but there's no way my asthma would let me do it these days . Karl. Looking forward to the pictures mate. Stay safe up there.

Possible idea is for Len to play a top 500 oldies set 🤔🤣🤣🤣

Mick. I'm sure we had a guy in the chatroom a few times from Uruguay or Peru now that must be the most obscure country, anyone think off anywhere else that is slightly of the normal northern radar. We also had Cher from Canada.  Martin L from Leeds another strange place 🤔😜🤣🤣🤣

Sorry, maybe a stupid question but those are the total accumulated stats of all events since March 2020, right?

I have to say it's not totally clear from the way Radioking presents the stats - but I believe it's the total number of individuals who have tuned in since the first show

Yes, could very well be unique users (which is a quite common KPI in the web world)..

I am ashamed to say i missed last Saturday i had a pre booked night out with a few double jabbed record men in Crewe  before heading over to the record fair in Newcastle under Lyme on Sunday. Over the last year or so i have tuned into several of the nights and had the pleasure of playing a few tunes on three occasions ..Every time i tuned in i had a pen and paper at the ready to scribe down the titles of the gems that were being spun.Yes i am a nerd  .Each session produced a surprisingly diverse range of music and every time i listened in  it cost me a few quid on discogs or ebay or wherever. Each dj that played understood that Bury was not just about playing their most expensive tunes .The job in hand was to entertain and play a few curve balls tunes that deserve a spin but often get lost or forgotten when there is a dance floor to please. .Hats off to Simon and Barry and all involved including everyone that joined in with the live chat(we now all know that Nigel doesn't like Latin ) .When we were all going insane over the last year BVAN gave us something to look forward to and something quite unique and special.A big thank you to you all

Martin.  It will be gloves off before August if we get chance to meet up. Can't have a drink together wearing gloves my friend.  I noticed that you have rsvp to King's Hall. I will be there in the rare/ crossover room . Not been for god knows how long.  Anyway back on topic.  All of the above is so true BVAN has been the highlight of the week,  every week.  And it's built up into a special company of like minded souls with a proper spirit that sometimes is lost in this frenetic world.
